Stupid Helpdesk people

Wait ah.... let me scold first..... WTH...

Wah lao eh.... cannot imagine la.... Alvin were just inquiring what are the cancellation charges if we decided to cancel the trip as we care unable to fly there due to the closure of the main airport.....

And the person replied that they will cancel our booking for the hotel.....

But I guess in the end, the misunderstanding was cleared up with a follow-up email by Alvin. They asked us to confirm with them if we would like to cancel the booking of the hotel.

Hmmm..... come to think of it.... I guess the misunderstanding occurs when one party "thinks" 1 step ahead of the other. E.g in this case, the helpdesk people "think" ahead 1 step by assuming that when we ask that question, means that we have the intention and wants to cancel the booking. Thus, the misunderstanding occurs.

Another example... ...

We all know that currently U-Tapao Airbase in Bangkok is allowing planes to land and fly off for passengers who are stranded there or going to BKK urgently. If you are "thinking" one step ahead, then, you can foresee that there might be possibilities that airlines might be allowing planes to land and take off from there IF the main airport is still unavailable. As I was just seeing word by word in the airasia website, no other thoughts were given to whether will there be possibilities that the commerical airlines will start to send passengers to that airbase and thus they might not allow passengers to refund their air tickets, which Alvin is able to foresee. Hmmm... maybe he is looking at other websites also?

The morale of the story?

We need to COMMUNICATE to ensure that we know what each other meant. To communicate to confirm. So that there will not be any communication breakdown or communication barrier... ... It doesn't takes much effort to say what we meant right? Although I know it can be irritating at times when we try to explain ourselves and people don't get what we meant and we just gave up. But sometimes when we tried to explain and the other party knows what we are trying to say, we will feel and think: "Good. The person knows what I meant."

That's life.

Let's see if the airport re-opens on Saturday@6pm... ...
