God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way. And ME to share all the pain, laughter, tears, sorrow, happiness, sun and rain with you! Let us endure all the 暴风雨 and 彩虹 together!

Gatherings

I attended 2 gatherings this saturday.

First was mabel's bbq. A gathering for us to catch up as she will not have the time to talk to us during her wedding on the 16 August 2008.

Guys who I know (from my class that I repeated) turned up are: Zheng Rong, Ming Guang and Johan.
The guy from the class before I repeated: Wen Jun.
Yes. All guys, as usual.

That was a good catch up. Wen Jun and me still talks about those days where he and Daniel used to suan me like nobody business, which only god knows why. lolx.

And Wenjun commented I looked different. Then he realised that I always had ponytail back in JC and now I let down my hair. He said I looked better. Want to see my JC photo?

Yeah.... this is how I looked then, in 2003, in Ponytail.

Well, I guess I am a "late Boomer" too. Only start "dressing up" after graduating from NYP. And that is 2007? lolx....

Anyway, I am glad that I repeated my JC year 1 that I am blessed with such wonderful classmates. I was sharing with Wen Jun that how cooperative we were during our computer science course work for our A Level in year 1.

YES. We took 1 of our computer science course work in year 1. And 2 in year 2. That time, we will assign each and every 1 to memorise 2 lines of the questions. And when we came out, we will write out our own part and we will combine the question/informations together. That is what I call class spirit and together everyone achieves more.

With Zheng Rong, the conversation was how we were throwing paper balls in the computer science tutorial room during the period when we were studying, together with Leela, Gui Rong and Vai I think.

Johan, came before I was about to leave. Yes, sorry, my fault. Forget to confirm with you the time. This is CLASS REP's fault. Wah liew..... all of them still remembers I am the CLASS REP.

Well, we still joke about Mabel's other half during JC. He wasn't here for the BBQ.

Nevertheless, I was very happy for Mabel as she has found her happiness. May her married life be blissful and sweet. Shall see her again on the 16th August 2008.

Anyway the group photos will be posted up when I got it from Wen Jun but here is the photo I've taken with her:

After the BBQ at Pasir Ris Coasta Sand, I went to meet up with my buddies.

2nd Gathering

Anyway the buddies that turned up are aZ, hC and wC. All guys.

Supposingly to watch X-files but there was no screening at downtown cathay. They decided to watch either the Mummy or $ not enough. But..... both shows either left with the 1st row or they are left with individual seats. So, we decided not to watch and hangout some where for talk cock session. Maybe will catch it again. Someone mentioned that $ not enough is not bad as he went to watch it that night. And said that Lai Yi Ling is a loveable wife.

I met them at the E-Hub. And this aZ was telling me directions or his location and still dare to speak so loud and said,

"We are at the junction there..... junction of JUNYUAN SEC!"

Please let me remind you. That is Hai Sing Catholic High. Not Junyuan Sec. Junyuan Sec is in Tampines. You gave me such a shock that I thought you guys are back in Tampines.lol.

Anyway, when I met them, the 3 guys were playing 1 PSP. lolx..... they were standing next to this ferris wheel that I thought it looks quite pretty and colourful.

Anyway, we walked from E-Hub to White Sand's Coffee Club. They bluffed and said that we were going back home. They commented that I only know how to "kick" and "whine" like a doggie. Wa Liew..... But well.... I am not called doggie for nothing okay. lolx....

We went to coffee club and this is what I ordered:

Iced Blackberry Coffee

And we shared some cakes... ...

Mudpie Cake

Cheesecake

As usual, I am trying to snap some photos... ...

Photo with aZ, taken by wC... ... but not a good take.... cos my eyes are like.... closing.... sleepy....

Then I decided to ask wC to help me to take an individual shot:

How can I missed out trying to snap myself?

Irritating aZ preventing me from taking photo

But still... here it is!

BIG EYEBAGS sia.... But it is okay.... it makes it me! When people see eyebags it reminds them of? ME!!! lolx....

Well, after the coffee club, we decided to hang out somewhere else... ... they suggested MAC at somewhere but only to realise that it was already closed down when wC told us... ...

While they were deciding, I saw my interesting shadow... .... and decided to take a photo of it.

“Everything that we see is a shadow cast by that which we do not see.”
- Martin Luther King, Jr. quotes

Then.... we decided to go back to E-HUB.... yesh... that is where I met them just now.....

On the way, I saw this prawning pool. Looks quite cool. Maybe one day I should go and try to fish the prawns.

And while I was taking the above photo... ... 3 of them just walked without waiting for me!
##$%@$%$...... lolx.....

SEE!

And now we reached back to the E-HUB!

The ferris wheel taken from outside...

Okay.... then we went to BK@Downtown. We chatted abit. But mostly, we were just doing our own things. wC and hC were playing with their phones, sharing files... ...

Me and aZ talking on and off.... then I was playing with my G900. Going online with Wireless@SG.... Then aZ started playing with wC's PSP.... I also want to play PSP!!! Late Bloomer again.... *yawn*

It was around 12.30am when we left the place. No more buses home. Thus, we went home with "BUS 11". We walked home via the park connector... ...

When I reached home.... it was closed to 2am. Thanks hC for accompanying me back. =) Took a bath.... and here I am blogging.....

Cheers to our friendship BROs..... =)

Things never told

As you readers know, I am a private person, I never blog about my family and relatioship/s... ... Today, I'm gonna reveal something that was never told by me... ...

Back in 2007, during CNY, someone had my fortune told. As usual, they will tell you about your life and of course - marriage.

As for my life, she said, in hokkien(and translated):

"You tends to get angry with yourself ."
I've blogged about the above statement before. If you are interested, you can click here. Otherwise please proceed to see what I have to say about her statement on marriage.

She commented that:
"You will marry late(which I don't know how late she meant). Most of the time, other people tends to 'block' and get the guy before you."
That time, when I heard it, it was so damn true can?

Let me see... ... I think there was 1....2.....3.... cases that happened before (2007's CNY) when she told me the fortune.

All the 3 of them got attached soon when I realised I had something for them (most probably just a crush I guess) and I will just give up... ... and never look back... ...

And I think it keeps on happening again and again... ... quite sad huh?

Sometimes I just wanna go against it to see it really is the case... ... wanting to prevent it from happening... ... again.... but seems like it doesn't work.

... ... but this time round, I seriously believe that this is not just a crush... ... and he is not attached now... ...

... ... But... ...

I don't know.

I am just .....

*speechless*

P.S: I'm not trying to get any pity here or what-so-ever but I'm feeling just so irritated that it keeps on happening... ... and yet I don't have any control over. It just happened.

Well, if you are wondering why am I so emo today... ... I guess it is because... ... people around me are getting married... ... =)

Past Quotes... ...

"Sometimes you cannot believe what you see, you have to believe what you feel. And if you are ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them, too - even when you’re in the dark. Even when you’re falling."

"The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in."

"So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning."

- Tuesdays with Morrie

Blog about it before. Click here to view. Hmmm.... maybe I should come out with a book called Sundays with Eileen.

How about that?

Quote received on a sunday:

"Like the trees need the Earth. Like the night needs the Moon.
Like the star needs the Sky. Like the guitar needs the Tune. My world needs you.
I Miss You."

Good things must share

Today, my ex-adult client's mother came to look for me and requested that I lend her my receipe book (9 years old collection, from year 1999 till now) longer.

As someone who is willing to share, of course it is my pleasure to lend her longer.

I missed cooking. Maybe one day I shall get back to cooking again. Haven't been cooking for quite some time already. Usually will cook when I am exceptionally happy or sad but no longer does that.

I missed baking.... and cook special food. =)

Shall see how ba.....

Uniquely you.....

I was sharing/introducing some songs to my colleagues just now and I came across this song that I liked and taken part in SADeaf event in 2005 by "singing it with sign language".
My music story.....

Uniquely You by Wendy Koh ... ...

There's a place in my heart
That I keep for someone special
Memories forever true to me
Take me through those tougher days

Suddenly I found in you
All the joy, the smiles and laughter
All the hope and love divine
Always you - you on my mind

I always knew - there would be the day
When I give my heart away
To the one who'll always keep me safe and warm
If I should go - I won't ever forget
The special days, the times we had
And no matter what - whether winds of change
You will always be - Uniquely you...

...In my heart
Where I keep my little treasure
It's a time I always turn to
It's the place where you're by my side

I always knew - there would be the day
When I give my heart away
To the one who'll always keep me safe and warm
If I should go - I won't ever forget
The special days, the times we had
And no matter what - whether winds of change
You will always be - Uniquely you

There's a place in my heart
That I keep for someone special
It's a time I always turn to
It's the place where you're by my side
You're the special one - my only'
Cos it's you - Uniquely You

ASSUME

Have you guys knows what is the definitation of the word?

When someone ASSUME..... you can say,

"Don't make an ASS out of U and ME."

Haha.... this is a phrase that I used to use at times during my life as a CI.

P.S: ONLY WHEN I AM VERY ANGRY! =D

Was listening to mp3s and decided to play the following song......

Still remember this is Ms Zachia Low all time favourite song in 2004...... whenever we go NPCC HQ for OEP... in her office.... or even in her white Honda Civics when she send us back home....

Old Songs

All of a sudden went to listen to some old songs as I heard this phrase “坚持到底" on TV just now....

Thus, wish to share this song with my readers.... whatever you do, do not give up.

坚持到底.... tough time don't last, tough men do..... so NEVER EVER EVER GIVE UP!

Few incidents in my life I'm glad that I never give up and thus I am what I am today......

Incident #1
I failed my JC 1 in 2001. I was told to go to ARTS STREAM. And of course to GIVE UP NPCC. MY civics tutor of course has the best intention in mind but she failed to understand that that time, NPCC was my life. So what decision did I take?

Haha.... I NOT ONLY did I stay in SCIENCE STREAM, I took up a more SIONG CCA/ECA in addition to my NPCC and that is COLLEGE DRAGONBOATING. lolx.... I don't remember how I really brave through that 2 more years in JC. But I just know that I want to prove peopl wrong that I can make it. Perhaps it was due to my STUBBORNESS and my desire to win attutide (which may not be very obvious to some ppl).
HAha.... I did quite well in my repeated JC1... I think I got AEE in Sem 1... as compared to OFF the year before..... and sem 2 I think I got CDE. As i was typing this, I remembered I can still access my JC portal.... so here is my results..... not fantastic.... but who cares? lolx....

Haha... finally during the A Level, I scored CDD, which I was pretty upset over it for a while. But that never get me down for long. I tried all my means to send in all my relevant documents to courses that I wanted in University. In the end, I didn't really got into what I wanted. But was still offered a place in NTU Engineering. At the same time, I was offered Dip in Occupational Therapy. Took a while to decide what I want to do and told myself not to regret the decision whatever may come. And there I was..... an Occupational Therapy Student. But things wasn't that smooth sailing after all.......

Incident #2
I was in dilemma whether I want to be an OT when I graduated or to join SPF after my degree conversion. And in addition, I have to handle the financial issues for my studies. That time my mom's CPF wasn't enough to pay for my education. Thus, I took up bank loan from DBS. But that only meant 75% of the fees and I have to fork out the additional 25%. As a student with only $300/mth which includes my transports, lecture notes, food expenses and miscellances. How am I suppose to pay? And being someone with no biology and no strong pure sciences background, it makes studying difficult. I was called into my CT's room to talk to me. Thank god Rayyan introduced me to Quatum Dynamics, which is known as Synergy Dynamic now. Though the pay wasn't that fantastic and often late (hahaha....), it helps me brave through the storm. Just that all of the pay was always used to pay my school fees. I was also known to be sometimes-part timers to them.... haha.... as I can't commit on a regular basis... only when I have no attachments. Oh.... I was also a tuition teacher during the 1st year too.

Things got slight better as the years go by..... and managed to brave through all my attachments with quite fairly good results. =)

Well, I am not blogging this to tell you how much I have gone through and you should empathise with me for going through these.... What I want to share is, have faith and confidence in yourself in whatever you decided to do. Don't give up on what you want to achieve.

End of 3 year journal

I can't believe that I have gone through 3 years of my OT education. It may seem hectic at times with abundance of assignments and presentations. I still remembered the times where we have to study for Anatomy written and practical exams where we had to remember all the attachments of every muscles and their actions. I can also vividly remembered the faces of all us when we first entered the Anatomy practical room to see our "Dear Cadaver" for the 1st time. And of course some of us had just taken our lunch... ...

Year 1 was a rather "dry" year for all of us.... and well, I admit and is guilty for being one of those students who slept during lectures (esp. Physiology).. haha.... I would say it was a hard time trying to stay awake when the environment was so conducive for sleeping. (I can't imagine if I'm taking student in the future and she/he sees this entry... lol) And I guess I persevered. And I think maybe no one would thought that I could survived that long too... .haha...

Things got much more interesting in year 2..... where we got so much hands on... from mobility to LLD (esp. meal preparation) to Human Occupations to Groups to Leisure .... it was indeed the most enjoyable year.

All the fun and laughters didn't stop when we come to year 3. It is just an increase in other areas, e.g. Stress, more sophicated assignments (e.g. models), more arguements discussions, more time spent in the library, more clinicals, more time spent in frint of the computer... of course more "lameness" in some of us... ...

The mad rush since December was the time that I think we should all deserved that pat on the back.... with FYP, Assignmemts, Exams, Student Conference and lastly Clincials. This mad rush has made many of us fall ill, and that includes yours truly.

Now that everything has ended, and not quite. But it soon will after our results are release. Some of us will depart to continue your student role in Australia while some of us will step into the role of Occupational Therapists. We will no longer include the word "student" in our documentations.

Now, are we ready?

Perhaps this is the time to sort out all our thoughts and feelings. I don't know what path I will take now. I will just take a step at a time now. Maybe the 1st thing I should do now is to clear my room. I have lots of notes lying around. Maybe if I am lucky, I will head to Australia for my Degree Conversion. If not, I will just stay in Singapore for the moment. But now, it seems it is more of the latter.

Whatever it is.... it was a truly enjoyable 3 years... If I were to be given to choose between NTU Enginnering and NYP Occupational Therapy, I think I wll still stick to OT.

Sorry for such a long post..... See you guys soon.....

Visit to Mr Goh's House

Went to Mr Goh (AKA Ah Goh) 's house yesterday... ... Haven't been to his house for like 2 years? The last time that I went was in 2005. =)

Well... ... didn't have his address or shall I say I do not know where I have placed them. Thus, I called him after he didn't reply my sms. Got his address and guess what? I only got his "address" without the unit number. haha.... didn't really want to bother him again until I really cannot find.
Sab and me managed to get a lift from Johan. It has been ages since I saw Johan.

When we reached Ah Goh's flat, in the lift,... ... I'm trying to recall which button I press 2 years back! haha... Then I think I recalled something like the highest level. Then before we entered the lift, there was this pizza delievery man and he was also going to the same level. And well, to our surprise, we were going to the same flat! haha....

We got a shock when we reached as we were not the only ones there. His current students were there too and they ordered the pizzas and well, Ah Goh paid for them. haha... it may be the same for us if we were their age too... but at least I think we still pay him back in the end, which he rejects most of the time. Still remembered we went to play pool with Ah Goh 2 years back... or it is 3 years? We also went to watch movie with him... ... Those were the days...

Well, I was standing there observing them... ... it seems like I am looking at myself when I was their age. The way that they talk to Mr Goh... resemble us at least 80%. And as usual, Ah Goh tends to be "bullied" by us. Erm, I think more by the guys in my class than the gals... ... cause only 1/3 of the class are gals and only like 1/2 of us take computing and thus closer to Mr Goh than those not taking computing. And if my maths is correct at 2am, then it makes 1/6 of the class... ... haha...

Anyway, Ah Goh still looks the same. The house is still the same. Just that there are additional things to the house. Things like baby cot, baby walker, toys... ... these are the things that are so rare in his house in the past.... and of course it was because of the addtional member to the Goh's family. But listen up, it is not 1 but 2 members!!!! Congrats!!!

The older one is 1 1/2 y.o. while the younger one I heard is 3 mths old. Didn't get to see the younger one but I managed to take a photo of the older one. How can someone like me who likes children forget to take a photo of her?

Here it goes.... Presenting to you....... JADE GOH!

Isn't she cute? haha.... And when I was taking the last photo, I said "笑笑" (smile) and she imitated and said "笑笑" too.... hehe...

Well, forget to take photo with those present.... namely Ming Guang, Johan, Wei Zhen, Edward, Zheng Rong (who Ah Goh forgotten his name), Sabrina and me!

Of all mentioned, Edward became much fairer... ... perhaps he didn't go under the sun much when he was in Australia..... and well, he took a ride from his mom even though his hse was like 10 mins away from Ah Goh....

Ming Guang, Johan ans Wei Zhen has become more mature as compared they were in JCs... but well.... still as playful.... but nevertheless, can see that they are much hardworking than before.... haha....

Zheng Rong, still as strong as ever....

Sabrina... ... hmm... more mature too... and more emotionally stronger as compared to the past... ya? = )

As for me, well.... don't know if there was any changes... haha.... but was really glad that we had a chance to meet up again after so long.... perhaps the Class Maid here will organize another outing where most of us can make it... ...

Keep you guys updated ya..... and please update your emails and contact numbers with me!

Signing off,

Past Ambition, Future Aspiration

Ambitions, dreams, aspirations, whatever you call them....

Today, there is this Home Team exhibition booth outside the auditorum and today I have taken none of the brochures and gifts at all. It caused me to reflect on the changes of my career path ever since I came to NYP and study Occupational Therapy (OT).

It reminded me my long story....

My childhood dream is was to join the Singapore Police Force, so I joined the National Police Cadet Corps in the year 1997 when I was in Secondary One. Attachments/ Visiting of Police related departments - Police Dog Unit, Police Coast Guard, etc further strengthened my ambition of joining the force. I even have hobbies such as collecting anything related to the force from brochures to magazines to keychains and even rulers.... Haha... can imagine how "Police-crazy" I was....

Through the years, I began to like NPCC more. To tell the truth, I wasn't the most active, nor am I the most interested person when I was Secondary One but things changed as I went to Secondary Two.... I became someone with more initiative as I began to like what I was doing.... and soon..... I was "seen" and "recognize" by the seniors..... and soon.... that started all the things that changed my life.... =)

For the next 1-2 years or so..... the passion developed in me, whether is it for the Force or the Corps. All the teacher officers have alot of trust in me..... and soon, I was on my way for Passing-Out-Parade as known as POP. Still have this picture of us.....

Then after, I made another decision to join the 59th Batch of Cadet Inspectors' Basic Training Course (CIBTC) and there I was, graduated as a Cadet Inspector.

I went back to serve back my unit, the unit that I was from. Till now, I have seen members from the 1st batch to the 13th batch..... and yet to see the 14th batch ( I was from the 4th batch =) ) After I graduated as a Cadet Inspector, I've also went to help out in a few CIBTC as instructors..... My active period was long over.... it's time to hand over to the younger generations.... and my school workload and attachments doesn't allow me to commit myself too....

Oh, it was still my dream even till when I was in JC.... and even before I decided to join OT. It was a struggle to choose what I want to study after my As - NTU Engineering or NYP Occupational Therapy.

I asked myself what I want to be..... what are my reasons of studying/education? Then, I told myself this and I can still remember:

"I want to join the force but I want to get a degree and be a Senior Police Officer BUT I do not want to get a degree for the sake of having a degree. I want to study something that I like."

Being an engineer is definately not my cup of tea.... well, I can maybe study it for a year or two but soon, I will get bored..... Thus, I decided to do OT. Because I know I can learn a lot of things about people.... not machines..... and furthermore, there is degree conversion... not another 3 years but 1.... so it is not too bad....

But in the process of pursuing the OT education, I began to see light and begin to reflect more.... whether I want to "catch" the baddies and protect the "goodies" OR to help the needies.... the less fortunate and to treat everyone regardless of their status.... regardless whether or not they are the one who stole from people..... or whether they are the construction workers..... or whether they are someone who have multiple sex partners and tested HIV-positive....

And well, there will always be people who were once like me who wants to be a Police Officer... I mean these are always the common childhood ambition that people would want to be. I do not foresee that there will be no one who do not want to be a Police Officer.

Till now, I think you all should have known the choice that I have made.

I have chose the road less travelled.......

Now thinking back, it is not that bad after all. At least I have held and fired both .22 and .38 Smith & Wesson Revolver before. =) and at least I have don the uniform before.....

Though the road is getting tougher but there is a quote that I always like.....
" The road may be difficult but with skills and confidence, I will be able to help the people in the future."
With few more months to go..... all of us will be truly be called a full-fledged Occupational Therapists.

Till then, let us hang on there, with each other as social support during the late nights on the MSN, with cups and cups of coffee next to us and of course preparing to hear the music and annoucements in the school library....

Time for reflections

Birthday is a good time for reflections... ...

This 2006 has been quite smooth sailing for me most of the time... ...
Friendships has been well..... studies are quite okay... but still..... there's lots of room for improvements....

Family is fine.... but realize that my parents are growing older and weaker day by day... ... I think I should start contributing to the family once I start working next year..... hopefully my brother does that too even thou he is working alrdy.... and then my mom and dad can stop working too....

Life isn't that bad afterall... ...

Just that I think I should start thinking more about my future ... ... I'm not in a hurry to get married or whatsoever.... but ... my parents esp. my dad is not getting any younger. He's alrdy like 62?
Anyway, shall see how thing goes ba. I haven't really meet the right one yet too.

******************************

This day always make me remember OEP 2004
It has already been 2 years.... Hope everyone is fine.

2004 is a year of suprises.... more friendships build... beginning of a new life as future healthcare professionals....

Fast Fwd......

Now is alrdy 2006.... 20 more days to 2007 ... ...

Looking forward for more suprises (good one of course) and challenges in the year 2007.

What's life when you can predict everything that comes along the way?

Sometimes challenges along the way can make us more mature and stronger.

And well, life isn't all about winning.

It's about the process that we go through and even if we fall, it's about the standing up each time we fall.

Sometimes, it is also not how long we take to a destination. It is the determination to reach the destination.

So much so for the phil 'LOSO' phy about life... ...

Life goes on whether we are happy or sad..... rich or poor... ... fat or slim... ...
The earth wouldn't stop revolving for any one of us .
So why be sad?
Life still goes on!

To the OTties:
Let's make the last sprint to the beginning of our OT life!
Show the lecturers what our batch can do!

Missing them

On the final day of my placement, one of my 3 y.o. client said,

"You will cry."
"You will miss me."

How a confident he is. Indeed, I am missing him.

Another OutPatient of mine, during the last week of placement, I gave him a notebook. Behind the notebook, I punched holes, so that he can learn how to tie shoe laces himself.

And he replied,

“ 我要学钟琴在《黑白讲》里讲的一句话 —— 这还是我第一次收到礼物喔。真的太感动了。”
I was taken aback when he said that as he was someone with high EGO. But instead of saying he doesn’t need it, he thank me for it and attempts to try to tie a knot when I tried to teach him.

He was so interested in learning it. Though it was the last session, I glad that I had made an impact on him, at least I think I had.

Sometimes it is these little things that made us carry on doing what we are passionate about and being able to make an impact on others. As we are

Happy Teacher's Day

"Today is Teacher's Day
We like to shout and say
How great you are to us
In many many ways
When we go astray
You show us all the way
And guide us back to the right footpath
Without any fuss

Teacher Dear, Teacher Dear
We'll like you to hear
You are our greatest friend
Forever till the end!"

The above is a Teacher's Day song modified from a christmas carol, sang for teachers during my primary school time.

Today, I would like to dedicate the song to all the special people in my life, for giving me such an enjoyable learning experience.

Thanks,

All the teachers who inspired me in my learning - esp. Ms Foo P.C, Mrs Tan K.S, Mr Kumar Lim, Mdm Usha, Mrs Han, Mr Chee, Mr Seah, Mr Goh Y.S, Mr Tan Chee Boon, Mr A. Loo, Ms Evelyn, Mr LPK, Mr Lim H.B, etc

And to those friends who are teachers - Ms Chiang Y.R, Ms Wu D.P, Ms Casey, Ms Zachia Low, Xiao Fen Lao Shi ... ...

Happy Teacher's Day!

Memories

Every year, at this point of time, especially on the actual day - 5th day of the 5th lunar month (五月初五) I will think of the DB Team during my college time.

I will never forget those times when we trained for competitions and those time where we got 2nd for our 24 crews female boat....

Those were the days....
