How old is your daughter now?
Today had a short chat with an ex-client (boy)'s mum. Her daughter (client's sister) has grown so much since the last time I saw her.
While chatting, she asked me,
A place where behind the clouds, the sun is shining.....
A place where I share my reflections, dreams, hopes, life, frustrations.....

Amidst all the dramas, I seriously enjoy direct interventions with the kids.
These are the little things that kids do that melt my heart:

Time seems to pass so fast that I am going to attend my 4th D&D. The D&D committee last minute changed the theme from Black and Gold to some dunno what Fanciful, Flashy and Clashing Colours.
Like that how to win the best dressed? lolx.
I was already planning to wear sleeveless black blouse from FCUK with black tights and black heels, with strips of GOLD hair. Now with this change of theme.... must find other clothes to wear and I am left with only 2 days as D&D is on Friday with morning being the Staff Day.
If you are unaware, I have been nominated for the best dressed for the past 2 years!!! And in 2009, I was the Best Dressed Female!
I wonder if this year I will be nominated. lolx. We shall see....
Going to bed. Flu and fever bug is in me now..... zzzzz

In dinner and dance, work
14 November 2009 was my organisation (SPD)'s fundraising carnival - Breaking Barrier.
I was assigned first shift initially, then changed to second shift but because I had appointment with my D2K squadmates (bros and sis), I had to change with other colleague to morning shift.
These were some of the photos taken during the early preparation as well as the early morning before the crowd started to stream in:

In work
This is a damn sucky feeling to know that I have 3 written assignments (health promo - 3000 words, pediatrics-3000 words?, neuro rehab - review journals!!!) and endless online dicussions to do and yet I'm feeling sick and lethargy due to my body fighting the flu virus and my inner self trying to sort out some personal issues. I wonder if I really looked or sound that sick as all parents of the children that I saw today all asked if I am unwell. Probably I sounded like a toad with my nasal voice.
Appraisal is coming I suppose and I have some KPI(key point indicators) that are yet to be followed up. Have to come up with some handwriting guildlines with fellow peds OTs with the draft by Nov and also will be giving a caregiver training with my colleague in Novemember.
Going for a 5 days long course in mid-Nov too. Another 3 days course in Dec before my bday. 3 days class just after my bday. Just looking forward for my 3 days leave in Oct and 13 days in dec. This year has been a rough year - waves? Tsunami? Roller Coaster? Sigh. I guess it's all the above. But I don't deny there are some things to be happy about too.
Dear Friends,
There will be an up-coming event on the 14th Nov, Ngee Ann City , Civic Plaza , from 10.00 am to 9.00pm. It is a fundraising and public awareness event, known as the Breaking Barriers Carnival.

6) Wheelchair Obstacle Challenge
7) Snap It (booth set up to capture pictures of individuals and printing them out through digital printers after personalizing them)
What can you find at Breaking Barriers Carnival?

4) SPD information counter
5) Booth selling products from our production workshop mend by MMC
If you require further information on the above, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Cheers,
Xiu Ling aka Eileen Quek

In appreciations, happiness, present, work
Sorry for the long absence... ...
Life has been tiring and busy I suppose.
For studies, I was busying rushing assignment for Cognitive and Perceptual Rehabilitation module the 2-3 weekends ago. Working on 6000 words assignment after work is no joke. Usually tends to only do it on weekends as I am often too tired to do anything after work. Now that cognitive and perceptual module is over, I have 3 more modules to go: Health Promotion, Paediatrics and Neuro Rehab. Looking forward for all to be over ... ... It is tiring to be a full time worker and part-time student.
As for work-related updates, 2 weeks ago, me and my work colleagues had to put on performance during one of the meeting at HQ in conjunction with Racial Harmony Day and we had arranged a fusion dance (with mainly Indian dance steps). We took less than 1 week to choreograph, practice and refine our steps. I guess it all come down to teamwork. As someone who can't dance, I am suprised that I can "shake" too... lolx.... I guess it all comes down to how comfortable and how confident I am.
Haha..... some photos on the actual day:
(some quality may not be good as it is taken from printscreen from video, some are blurred as some colleagues may not want their faces to be shown here)

Actually on that day I was a little tired as I slept only at 4am to rush some editing to photos and animations for a presentation for our centre at HQ. But mind over body..... and I survived. Some of us went out after work to look for some shoes and we chill out at starbucks before going home:
Just now we had a BBQ at ECP. Just a small BBQ with the staff working in SPD@Tampines. Didn't take many photos. Just a few and took some photos from Yeng Yeng.
The sunset......Too bad my phone camera couldn't capture the sunset as nice as it it seen with the bare eyes.

I have 2 good updates for my work and studies.
This is a late update anyway. I gotten back my 6000 words group assignment. Apparently it was not too bad. Not too sure if it was an A grade or not. Anyway, it was 73.5 marks out of a hundred. Now for this module, we are only left with a presentation which was postponed due to the H1N1. This presentation is 15% of the whole module. Hopefully I score well in this coming presentation. If I really do, that means that most probably I will score above 70 for this module. Pray hard for me.
In another module, I am way behind in the online discussion. Practically no motivation to go in and discuss. Sigh. Maybe things will get better when my group suppose the lead in the discussion? This discussion constitute 20% of the whole module plus an 80% paired assignment. Supposed to have an examination for this module. Don't know why it was scrap off.
As for work, of course I am seeing more clients. Getting few more referrals here and there. And there is some adjustment to my salary! Yeah.... and that includes this year annual increment. This should be given way long ago..... our salary is so wAY below others in other settings.
So far these are good news in my work and studies.
As for other area in my life.... sigh.... it is just not moving forward.

I would probably be ... ...
... an outdoor instructor

or maybe I'll be ... ...
... ...a pet groomer!

... ... or even a Police officer... ...

Or join the NAVY since I like the sun, the sand and the sea .....
But of course the reason that stops me from joining is my "ability" to swim.... =X
Anyway, the above is not navy ship, it is just normal ferry that ferry NS men to Tekong. But in this picture, I am not going to Tekong but just taking a CRUISE ride from Puala Ubin to Changi Jettty and back to Ubin.... lolx....
.... maybe some programmer, some IT analyst... or even someone doing CAD:
