God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way. And ME to share all the pain, laughter, tears, sorrow, happiness, sun and rain with you! Let us endure all the 暴风雨 and 彩虹 together!

Gathering during the long weekend

It has been so long since I met both of them. For at least a good 6-7 years.

They commented that I looked different and that they will not recognize me if they were to bump into me on the streets.

Those were the days.

The following are some of the photos that we took last Saturday. We went to Demsey and then Yishun Dam for a good dinner and long chat.

These 2 guys are still as skinny as ever.....

A group photo

After so many years, it is great to catch up with your friends. And reminiscence on the things that we used to do.

A compliment or a strategy?

A 7-8 year friend who I last met last year when we went to be instructors for a Pahang camp, called me. He said he has another friend who is an occupational therapist too.

He thought I was working in some hospital and only remembered when reminded him I was working in a Voluntary Welfare Organization. I mentioned that I am not working with the adults/elderly anymore but with children, although it is still at the same place.

He commented something like,

"Working with children require alot of patience right? But okay la.... you always have that extra tender, loving, care."

Well, maybe he had observed all these through our camping days as Cadet Inspectors in Ubin and during NCO camp. I got to agree that although I was strict with my cadets, when they fall sick, my heart just soften. I think maybe that's why I am working in a nurturing profession.

This reminds me of another incident where I was attending to a cadet inspector trainee back in my NPCC days. Can't remember if she was having high fever or sprain her ankle. Some days later, heard from another friend who was her seniors, that that gal commented that I was very caring towards her. Laugh. Sometimes it is wierd how a person remembers you for something you thought was just a small thing to us.

Anyway, I side-tracked alot. =X

Back to that call.....

So I asked him, so what you working as now? Well..... he is a financial advisor with one of the company. Alright.

So now, was the call going to be a catch up or is there agenda to it? Was that "tender, loving, care" a compliment of a truth or was it just a strategy?

I don't know. I may be thinking too much. But for a matter of fact, I don't make new friends who are FA anymore. Had really bad experiences with such people. I only be friends with those who I know before they become FA. Sometimes it is hard to know when are they true friends or those with agendas. Thus, to avoid any unhappiness or hurt from happening to know that had agenda instead, I choose not to make new friends who are FA. Unless, through friends or they proven themselves not to be so. haha..... it sounds like...... they are guity otherwise proven innocent uh? lolx....

That's all folks!

Past Ambition, Future Aspiration

Ambitions, dreams, aspirations, whatever you call them....

Today, there is this Home Team exhibition booth outside the auditorum and today I have taken none of the brochures and gifts at all. It caused me to reflect on the changes of my career path ever since I came to NYP and study Occupational Therapy (OT).

It reminded me my long story....

My childhood dream is was to join the Singapore Police Force, so I joined the National Police Cadet Corps in the year 1997 when I was in Secondary One. Attachments/ Visiting of Police related departments - Police Dog Unit, Police Coast Guard, etc further strengthened my ambition of joining the force. I even have hobbies such as collecting anything related to the force from brochures to magazines to keychains and even rulers.... Haha... can imagine how "Police-crazy" I was....

Through the years, I began to like NPCC more. To tell the truth, I wasn't the most active, nor am I the most interested person when I was Secondary One but things changed as I went to Secondary Two.... I became someone with more initiative as I began to like what I was doing.... and soon..... I was "seen" and "recognize" by the seniors..... and soon.... that started all the things that changed my life.... =)

For the next 1-2 years or so..... the passion developed in me, whether is it for the Force or the Corps. All the teacher officers have alot of trust in me..... and soon, I was on my way for Passing-Out-Parade as known as POP. Still have this picture of us.....

Then after, I made another decision to join the 59th Batch of Cadet Inspectors' Basic Training Course (CIBTC) and there I was, graduated as a Cadet Inspector.

I went back to serve back my unit, the unit that I was from. Till now, I have seen members from the 1st batch to the 13th batch..... and yet to see the 14th batch ( I was from the 4th batch =) ) After I graduated as a Cadet Inspector, I've also went to help out in a few CIBTC as instructors..... My active period was long over.... it's time to hand over to the younger generations.... and my school workload and attachments doesn't allow me to commit myself too....

Oh, it was still my dream even till when I was in JC.... and even before I decided to join OT. It was a struggle to choose what I want to study after my As - NTU Engineering or NYP Occupational Therapy.

I asked myself what I want to be..... what are my reasons of studying/education? Then, I told myself this and I can still remember:

"I want to join the force but I want to get a degree and be a Senior Police Officer BUT I do not want to get a degree for the sake of having a degree. I want to study something that I like."

Being an engineer is definately not my cup of tea.... well, I can maybe study it for a year or two but soon, I will get bored..... Thus, I decided to do OT. Because I know I can learn a lot of things about people.... not machines..... and furthermore, there is degree conversion... not another 3 years but 1.... so it is not too bad....

But in the process of pursuing the OT education, I began to see light and begin to reflect more.... whether I want to "catch" the baddies and protect the "goodies" OR to help the needies.... the less fortunate and to treat everyone regardless of their status.... regardless whether or not they are the one who stole from people..... or whether they are the construction workers..... or whether they are someone who have multiple sex partners and tested HIV-positive....

And well, there will always be people who were once like me who wants to be a Police Officer... I mean these are always the common childhood ambition that people would want to be. I do not foresee that there will be no one who do not want to be a Police Officer.

Till now, I think you all should have known the choice that I have made.

I have chose the road less travelled.......

Now thinking back, it is not that bad after all. At least I have held and fired both .22 and .38 Smith & Wesson Revolver before. =) and at least I have don the uniform before.....

Though the road is getting tougher but there is a quote that I always like.....
" The road may be difficult but with skills and confidence, I will be able to help the people in the future."
- Spiderman in <<拥抱明天>>
With few more months to go..... all of us will be truly be called a full-fledged Occupational Therapists.

Till then, let us hang on there, with each other as social support during the late nights on the MSN, with cups and cups of coffee next to us and of course preparing to hear the music and annoucements in the school library....

Gambatte!

NPCC - A Life Committments?

I was browsing through some photos posted by my friends regarding CIBTC and HOBTC. Memories just flew through my minds, on all the things that I have done for the past 10 years ever since I was in the corps since I was in Sec 1.

10 years of time spent in the corps. Many would say that is LONNNG. But I would say that is nothing. Compare to some who are really in this organization for a long long time and still is.

For me, passion is there. But time and committment is not. I think I don't even have time for a breather now at this particular moment, with so many things in hand and so little time. There are other things that I need to prioritize.

I know myself. I would not commit to anything if I am not at least 80% sure that I would be able to put in my time and effort in it. If I participate or join certain thing and don't commit to it, I will feel very bad. Thus, at this moment, I don't want to commit myself to other things that I'm not able to give my time to.

Sometimes in life, we have to give and take. Learn to let go and carry on with life. Be happy and contented that you have once went through it. Been there, done that. But I guess, you will learn and grow with different roles that you play in the same/different organizations.

All the best to those who are attending the HOBTC. May you be able to inspire more people to become the pillars of the future, the leaders of the future. And let me stay as a CI for now and hopefully, have the time to be one. And let me be happy and contented for now. No one knows what future holds for you and me, but if future allows, maybe one day in the near future, we will all put on the same uniform and hold the same title, and hopefully bring the corps into greater heights.

At least for now, I will be concentrating in my future career. Also dealing with people. But with different objectives, different goals.

I guess there will always be enough passionate people in the corps, who are willing to serve the corps and inspire more leaders like themselves.

But I believe, there are not enough healthcare professionals yet in the society. (Although it may be hard to find jobs when we are graduating, due to us being a BIG cohert and not many title there for "seniors" to get promoted... so all will stay put, but that's not the point)

So, although I, one person cannot do much, but at least I can do that much. =)

Passion

I realize I have a shift of my passion.....

Not too sure when it started. But I think those who know me will know. I used to be very active in NPCC in 2004. I can be at the headquarter(HQ) till 1+am in the morning.... almost evry evening I will be packed with activities..... there were numerous activities that I was involved in....

But now, I can feel and see that there is a drift of my passion from NPCC to my future career - OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY. Sometimes at the beginning it is hard to let go... esp. when so much time and effort has been put into it.... I have been with the corps since 1997.... imagine the amount of effort and time spent?

But come to think of it.... I must admit that I learnt alot from it. My leadership skills, communication skills, outdoor skills.... which all helps in my personal dev't. It is time to move on....

But that doesn't mean I will not involve in the corps anymore. It just meant that lesser time will be spent. It is also time for the junior to learn the ropes.... we cannot be there all the time....

It is hard to let go... but once the 1st step is taken, it will be easy.....

That's life.....

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY, HERE I COME!

Mid-way eval and busy weekends.....

Friday, 23 June 2006.

Mid-way evaluation completed and thus it marks the end of the 3rd week. Fast indeed. 2 of my patients are also discharging during the weekends. I wish them well.

My mid-way evaluation was cool. From there I know which area I should improve on. The most important one - to speak slowly. Haha.... Ya.... I know that. That has always been my "weakness" in life.... haha.....

But well, eval always marks the increase of stress level. The thought of improving and even to maintain the level of performance can be stressful. But well, I think the best treatment is also to be myself.

3rd week also reminds me that i had to do my case presentation in the organization, CRD in school, as well as my mgt assignment. All not really done yet. I have not really decided on which patient I want to present yet. Guess have to decide fast.

Friday night and Weekends

Met up with Hui2 after clinicals. Just to catch up and share our experiences, good and bad.

I went into ubin at 11+pm. Reached ubin after 12am. Yes. I was in ubin. There was a lack of 1st aiders. Last min activiation.

Was in 1st aid post the whole camp.

I was really upset regarding doing of "personal work". Just imagine that there are no casulties. Do you expect me to stare into space and do nothing? And wait for casulties to come in? Furthermore, let me remind you that I wasn't to be there in the 1st place.

Secondly, I am not obliged to go at the last minute notice.

Thirdly, I was suppose to go and "do my own work" aka research in the library if I wasn't to be ubin.

Lastly, I came right after my attachments. I was having attachments, mind you.

Thus, it doesn't harm for me to do my work. 'cos I wasn't disturbing anyone.

And well, if you are unhappy about anything, you SHOULD bring it up when you are in the room and not compliments and praises about the 1st aid stuff and yet at the end of the day stabbing ppl at the back.

I do not know if the comments were targetted at anyone. Neither do I know that the comments were to me or not. Nevertheless, the 1st aiders should be appreciated for our work for at least both of us who are not obliged to be there are there.

There can be rules BUT it can be flexible at times. It can be compromised at times.

Thus, if given a choice for you to choose,

  1. 2- 3 first aiders for the whole camp, with 24 hrs duty, AND
  2. 5 first aiders for the whole camp with 1st aiders being able to do their own stuff when there is no casulty, and able to be on shifts, etc.

which one will you choose?

Personally, "doing of personal stuff" is okay so long the duty of care is not compromised. It is simple as that.

Perhaps, we should let them stay in the 1st aid post for 1 day without doing anything. See what will happen. Furthermore, if duty of care is there for the more superiors, then does marking of exams papers and homework during camp a neglience as they are suppose to ensure the safety and welfare of the kids?

Reflections

I suddenly remembered something that Johnny said few months ago:

Johnny: "Are you enjoying your course now?"
Me (looking puzzled): " Erm... why did you ask?"
J: " 'cos when I 1st know you, you seems to be always busy with NPCC and neglected your studies (in JC). And now, I always see you busy with school work, which is good."
Me: *smiles

I have never really reflected on that. But now I guess I have to say I am really enjoying this course alot, thou at times the stress level can go up to 8/10 (rushing for assignments, photocopying articles, meeting deadlines, CE, etc ) BUT when we see the progress that patients are doing.... it is all worth it.

Of course, during the process of acquiring our knowledge, we had alot of fun during lessons which may seems to be "playing", "having fun" or "hobbies", etc to others . But it is throu this experience that we learnt and know the rationales.

And of course, I beginning to let go something slowly that I had hang on for so many years. To me, it is not just a CCA. It is part of my life. A part that see me grow as a person and gone through storms and sunshines with me. Though I am not so active now, but there is something for sure, I will always be there for anyone of you...... as my heart and spirit will always be with you guys......

*TO Juilet Batch, I know you all have alot of ups and downs in the corps BUT now is the time to study le.... really go and study and DO us PROUD. =) Maybe one of you can org an outing or sth as I didn't really have time to catch up with you guys that day after campfire....
Till then, take care and STUDY HARD but of course take some time out to relax*

Those were the days

Saw Mr Seong at ubin on sat.... He still remembers my name!!!! LOLz... and was asking me where I'm studying now... lolz....

Then had a quite a long chat with him when he came over to the tunnel.... =)

We talked about how fast time passed..... those times during J02 where he pumped CITs.... and the intentions to send them home.... and always say that it was our faults... lolz... the times when he complained that he has no time to train his 2.4km because of the CI Instructors....

Time has indeed passed by so fast......

Maybe one day, we should really catch up with one another....

Updates ...... Tiring Week

Been very busy lately... ...
Went to 2 activities back to back - YEC Teambuilding in MCC Ubin Resort and NAS NPCC Annual Camp 2005.

Now I shall updates on the happenings ... ...

YEC Teambuiling
I had my Teambuilding in Marina Country Club Ubin Resort. As a adventurer secretary, with another committee member of mine, B, we had some ice-breakers and teambuiling for the team.
Before the teambuilding game started, we went for jaccuzi. I was deciding to go into the jaccuzi in my shirts and shorts or erm..... Binkini? In the end... ... I decided to be in Bikini..... Cos in Ubin lesser ppl as compared to Sentosa mah.....

Next, I kicked of the teambuiling activity with Check - in (my brownie was there tooo....) . Then we played the game - Makan, movie, safari and we ended the ice-breaker with WACKO..... and well.... I had to do a forfeit for it!! Darn.... luckily only banana dance ....

Beach soccer and volleyball was the teambuilding games that we had planned..... The usual teambuiling games weren't used because I cannot be faciliator and partcipants at the same time .....

E was the most rough person in the beach soccer..... she was like playing hand ball.... pushing ppl.... grapping ppl by the arms etc..... but well..... we all had fun .....

Volleyball game was nice also..... glad that they enjoyed themselves.... and me too....

Had BBQ for dinner ... ... looks like the OLDER ppl are BBQing while the younger one just sat down and waiting to be served ... ... maybe, maybe because there are limited tongs to do the BBQing.... I decided to give them the benefit of doubt.....

Some thoughts thou.... WHY so some people think that he/she is always right?? Can't be someone younger than you be right too?? Perhaps... ... I am not just used to it ba... Cos I am always the ONE BBQing for my friends during Class BBQ.... ..... So I am sharing my experiences..... But Then.... forget it.... I still won't prevent me from sharing experiences with others.... This dinner.... caused me to have tens over mosquito bites which will itch now and then ..... Realise that I didn't eat much.... and seems like the younger ones finished up the most.... = X

Went back for planning of next year year plan...... Was sharing with the committee the activities that B and I thought of having .... Not sure if I was over-sensitive.... but I felt that someone was trying to put me down.... trying to find things that make my planning don't look well ..... or maybe trying to make himself/herself to look good.... I don't know.... this is what I feel.... or maybe it is to "troubleshoot".... But I still reserve my comments.... this incident does not and WILL NOT, make me DISHEARTED.... cos I WILL PROVE you wrong..... YOUNG AGE doesn't not mean INEXPERIENCE .....
The workplan ended at 12plus....after 4 hrs or so discussions...... and ended with another 4 hrs of crapping sessions.... which ended at 4+am..... with me still in my attire that I played the games with..... and soon... everyone went back to our rooms.... and me? bathe in the VERY early morning at 4+ and went to sleep after that.... I can't be bothered to wait for my hair to dry....

Hmm... then morning... we had nothing much.... had a few game of mahjong... then get ready to go off liao.....

After that, went to rid hse for his bday....

Reflections that I wrote when I was in Ubin:

Once again, I'm back to ubin. A place where there are fond memories
with different groups of people.
The boat ride to MCC Chalet passes OBS and it reminded me of the 9 days OBS Leadership Couse that I had, which is also around the same time of the year, 4 years back. Looking out to the shore, it reminded me of the experiential camp as well. OEP seems like yesterday but it is already yesteryear.

I started to miss QD Team. I do not know why. It is something that I
can't really explain. Though I knew this QD Team much more later than some
members in the committe, I seems more comfortable with the QD Team than the YEC Committee (other than I am more comfortable in wearing binkini here, but it does not concern the TEAM but the environment la...)

I was glad that the "older" ones participated actively in the games as
well....

Annual Camp 2005

I was really tired when I wake up... ... was even thinking of not going in the morning... But well, I still went.... Saw Daddy Sanath online and ask him why he was up so early but I was shutting down my comp before geeting a reply from him as I was leaving the house soon. He replied and ask me to take care in the camp!!! So sweet right?? Thank you, Daddy.... Though have been camping for years as instructors, which all these camps are nothing to us..... it is these little messages that makes our day.... it makes us feel that, though we may be garang and stuff.... we are still human.... and that we need care and concern too wor..... ;-) Daddy Sanath also offered to send us supper.... ask us to sms him if we want.... SO SWEET RIGHT??

To be frank, I wasn't actually excited for the camp. I do not really know why. When I reached unit, things seem so slow, campers moving slow..... but well... it is common la...

Left the camp at 10+, almost 11, after finished helping the NCOs to tie up the singel rope pull. In the bus, I slept through the 1hr journal which seems like 3 hrs ..... Reached school slightly after 12... and had my lunch before I started my research on my clinicals..... I was tired and don't feel like doing any research... but thanks to S, I went on to search for more stuff and ended up with 2 books with me for camp and 3 in the locker....

I also collected back some of my assignments from the lecturers..... Finally I can have my Creativity Assignment back..... After which, I went for the preparatory course for my clinicals.... it ended almost at 6 which I then headed back to NAS......

Got my dinner and a new hp battery on the way back to NAS. Reached unit around 7+. Campfire preparation.... mock campfire.....

AT 11+, Daddy Sanath called and said that he is sending supper over and ask us what we wanted.... Luppy and HX had their share too.... I was so paiseh la.... that I ask Rid to talk to him.... me shy mah.... lolz.... Though Daddy Sanath said that he would reach in an hour time, I think he took only like 1/2 hr or even less than that. Rid and I went to wait for Daddy.....

I was so touched la..... I mean even though daddy stays in tampines, he is not obliged to send us anything.... furthermore, this is not DQ camp leh.... ;-) Really.... I really appreciate it very much....

So what's for supper?? Daddy got us: 4 packets of mee goreng, 4 partas, 2 coffees and 4 teh tarik.... ;-) Forget to take photos.... if not, I will publish it here.... to share the warmth and love with all... hehe...

Had a debrief with the NCOs and then went to bath.... slept at around 3+.... was remicsing the MegaCamp with Rid... until HX felt so left out and he went into the room to sleep.

The 2nd day...... I was a little bored..... so I took lotsa brownie's photos.... some with the help of rid.....

It was until the campfire committee was preparing the firewood..... well.... I guess there were different expectations from both parties.... but anyway it was settled, isn't it?

It was drizzling and started to pour when the campfire was about to start. We had no choice but to activate our wet weather program. But after few songs...... the rain stoped and we continued with our campfire.... it was until the campfire ended that the sky started to pour again...... so I think HE read the email and sms late la... ;-)

And well.... I had to be a liar..... to rid..... cos the NCOs wanted to celebrate Yas ,John's and rid bday..... so I had to lie to him that Ms lee wanted to see us... lolz... and HE BELIEVES!!! Maybe.... I should go and take part in 明星偶像..... lol....

Things seems alittle better.... but slower towards the end la.... but everything ended out well.....

Photos to be published after I have uploaded them.....

Had our rest pretty early so compared to the day before... it was 1+..... Haha....

To the NCOs:

I am glad to see the improvements in you. Hope that all the unhappiness (if there is) have been settled and BURNT away during the campfire that night. Hope to see a better camp for the sec 1 orientation as I believes that everyone will do better after each experience. If not, we have not learnt! Take care and have a good rest!

Letter to D02 Squad 2 .....

When I was looking for some stuff under my computer table, I came cross this letter that I wrote to D02 Squad 2..... almost 3 years back.......

Dear Squad 2,

Improvements are seen day by day from you all but maybe I would like to ask if everyone of you have put in your best? How many of you are ready to teach your cadets once you past out from this course? MAYBE you all would like to think about it! Do you wish to regret only when the course is over that you should have done this and that?

You all are just like a rubber band. You all can stretch to your limits. I believe you can! " Nothing is impossible with a willing heart!"

You all should tressure whatever time you all have now. LEARN as much as you can. You will no longer have the chance to march and jog as a squad once you pass out from this course. You will be alone then. It will be your chance like us, to guide and inspire your NCOs and cadets, just like us, guiding you all.

"LIFE IS LIKE A ROLLER COASTER. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN IT IS UP AND TIMES WHEN IT IS DOWN. YOU CAN DREAD ABOUT THE WHOLE JOURNEY OR ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF IT! THE CHOICE IS YOURS!"

"WHAT IS BITTER TO ENDURE, MAY BE SWEET TO REMEMBER!"

ATC is just around the corner. Are you all prepared for it? Do you all have the I in the PICARD? REMEMBER, it is always good to be prepared for an opportunity than to have no opportunity to be prepared for.

There's still alot for you all to learn. Even I'm still learning as well ...... End of this course is not the end of your CI Life but it's the starting!

" SHIPS IN HABOUR ARE SAFE BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT SHIPS ARE BUILD
FOR!"

As a CI, we should not constrain ourselves to just Drill and Campcraft. We should venture out and learn more things to teach our cadets. We should not just pass down the hard skills that NPCC cadets should have but the soft skills and moral values.
Though there are improvement made, you all still have long way to learn; more room for improvements.

" WHAT DOESN'T KILLS YOU MAKE YOU STRONGER!"

Push yourself and others. At this point of time, instructors should not be the one to tell you what to do now.

" Give a man a fish, he can eat for a day. TEACH A MAN TO FISH, he can eat for a lifetime."

This is what I wish to see at the end of the course.

************************************

Sometimes, when I think back, I really enjoy being an CI Course Instructor, not so much for it's prestige but because I grew as a person. Though till now, I still do not know why I was chosen to be 1, back in June 2001 ......

But to think about it, I have learnt alot of things that I wouldn't have learnt if wasn't given such an opportunity.

The first course (J01) was one of the most memorable course for that was the time when I had to juggle between my school work and going down to HQ for IPCs....... Still remember how past IPCs were conducted .... though there may be lotsa firing and shooting, I guess it really prepare us for the course and make us think...... There are really "lots of ups and downs"..... Still remember that there were 4 "female newbies" - namely LK,SE,M and me...... and worse till, all of us were JC students ..... I will never forget how we "bia" cab to HQ everyday after school ...... * wonder how is everyone now?*

The next memorable one is of course being D02 Squad 2 instructor...... Seeing how some trainees who do not know alot of hard skills to one at least equipped with the necessary skills to be a CI as well as seeing one who lacks the confidence to one who is able to speak and teach in front of a squad..... And to see some of them who do well as CIs and recognize by most.....

All these memories will definately stay with me for life ...... If I were to choose again, I will still choose the same path, whether it will change my life in JC from 3 yrs to 2 yrs...... Cause, the things that I have learnt and gone through as well as friends that I have made, is far more valuable that that 1 year that I have to repeat in JC.....

Anyway, the friends that I have made in my 2nd JC 1 year are those who made me really enjoy my life in JC.... cause all of you all are a wonderful bunch of people, not forgetting having such great CT......

Wait.... why am I reminiscing??? Isn't that only for elderlys?? Haha... well... sometimes is is good to look back at the fond memories..... something that helps me to move forward in my life ......

That's all folks! Me have to get back to my studies liao.... ;-)

Area 9

I was back from Area 9 ATC on Sunday afternoon.
Basically, everything was quite alright, just that I lack company.....
All my kakis were all at Noordin campsite, leaving me strangled at the Bahru campsite....
But was glad that I saw Jian Sheng, for at least I am not the oldest eldest in the campsite and of course, he was someone at least I am more comfortable to talk to in Bahru.

The first night slpt at 3+ and woke up at 5+ the next morning. Almost overslept until Raduah woke me up.

As usual, I like sunrises and sunsets. These thus they became my art of photography. Some of the photos will be posted here soon.

On the 2nd day, brought them for Introductory Tour around some part of ubin. It was a long 4 hrs and thus I thought of playing initiative games with them. The 1st station was at Bermuda Triangle..... and we ask them to be in cirlce and sit on each others lap... The video taken for this game has accidently been removed when I wanted to clear my Cam memoty.....

The 2nd activity was ATF.....
The 3rd activity was at Noordin jetty, it was BSS there... I cooked my bamboo pineapple rice too.

Soon, it was dinner time.... but the thought of having dinner at noordin was tiring... reason being, I had to bring the campers from noordin beach, back to bahru campsite via noordin campsite. Then, I had to go back to noordin campsite. The journey wasn't very short, with upslopes and downslopes along the way.... but the dinner was nice!!!!

Had campfire too.... nothing much to blog about since it is the common activity for camp But the officers were participating too.... which was the rare case....

Ya, had a debrief with my grp. I always think that it was important to share the reflections of what they did with their friends.
I have been trying out different methods to see which is the most effective methods to make people/campers/cadets reflect more.

I asked them to close their eyes, to think about the things that happened for the past few days, having to come to camp after school, moving logistics, pitching tents, etc. Being as a team, with sweats, tears and laughters.... the game that they played together, sitting on each others lap, lying on each other stomachs.... and of course their grp mates..... (can't really remember what else I had said...)

I asked them to strech out their right hand and tap on the person on their right to thank them and congrat them for going so far.....

Of course, not forgetting the promise that I had made to them... the rewards for their participation in the games outside campsite.
First, I made them close their eyes and stretched out their hands. I put a M&M each on their palms and until I have distributed to all, I asked them to open their eyes. They were very surprised. But they were very happy to receive them, though it was only a M&M each. They even thanked me for it as a grp.... even those who had brushed their teeth eat the M&M too...

It is always towards the end of a camp that you will see initiative and teamwork etc....

Other than that, had an unit meeting at bahru from 12+ till 2+

Can't believe how effectively we used our time..... guess it was the best time to have meeting since all of us where there....

Third day nothing much, just need more sleep and COFFEE!

Break camp quite early..... think there was nothing much to blog after that....

I missed the OLD campsite.... small but resilient!

Photos to share......

Back from 2 Camps

Hi all! I'm back again!!

went to 2 camps in a roll... but not as bad as rayyan and jeremy.....
they went to 3 camps... and currently in their 4th camp!!
went to help out in area 12 atc... at first was assigned grp instr... then changed to some I-Games activities.. cos the officers never ask the cadets' parents to sign the indemity forms... so ATF was cancelled.... I-games was conducted instead.... but luckily desmond told them that they do not have enough rafting instr... so i go over to rafting lor....

This camp suppose to be area 12 atc... but in the end... it seems like area 9 instr running the camp....

I was alittle unhappy about the TO asking the cadets to bring the bedsheets and blankets from the bunks to the admin office..... I mean, the cadets didn't use the place.... they shouldn't be the ones doing it for you...
Next is the cleaning of the canteen.... the cadets didn't use the canteen.... they shouldn't be cleaning up for us too....
just imagine.... how is it like to clean the butt of someone else after they had shitted!!!
Cadets are human beings... they should not be treated like "slaves"......

Ubin~~~ NPCC~~~~

Was looking at the photos that I took last year at NPCC Noordin jetty....
It triggers alot of my sweet memories..... the time spent last year was hectic yet very fulfilling.... Events after events....

Canpcraft Comp, AIC, JPC, NPCC Day Parade 2004, Charity Adventure,VIC, NDP, National Camp, Fund-raising for China Trip, Unit Annual Camp, Finally to China . . . . . . .

Did not realise that I have participated in so much activity last year!!!

And this year??
Other than the Youth Forum.... I can't think of anything that I've participated?? WHY??
I seems to tone down alot.... the word "INACTIVE" seems to be the only word to describe me at this moment.....

Haiz.... 人在江湖,身不由己 .

Or perhaps it is just my time management??

I really miss the the sunrise in ubin.... everything about ubin.... and of course NPCC....
Any one care to join me in going to Ubin one of these days????

Yesterday(1 jan) was a Great but Tiring day!

Yesterday was a great day!! At least there is something that I can contribute to the Tsunamis Victims....

Firstly was the packing of the essentials at NPCC HQ. There were piles of clothes, blankets, shoes, etc.....
We had to make boxes, sorting of the clothes, counting, packing.....
But with the NPCC spirit, all the CIs and HOs finished even before lunch time which was a surprised to all of us!!! And it was way before the schedule time i.e 6pm!!
What surprised me was that my area turns out to be the area with the most number of helpers for that day!! *wink wink*

My area is also closer now... finally.... maybe all thanks to HILTER.. haha.....

Saw him at HQ yesterday... but din really tok to him... only talk for a while.... cos I'm rushing to the toilet.. keke... what to do?? my love style is shy ma.... keke..

mmmm... then in the afternoon, went to the Singapore Red Cross Society to help out. Actually din really want to go one.. not because I do not want to but because I'm very tired as I din slpt the whole night as I'm with my area at Changi Airport yesterday..... and oso he was still at HQ.... tot maybe can talk to him... haha...
But well... I still went.... ;-)
Nevertheless, at least I'm able to contribute more thou I'm not able to contribute in terms of money.....
Tell you what was my role....
my role was to stand at Little India(opposite Tekka Centre) and wave my hands at the cars and asking them to donate.... you will be surprised that people actually donate $50, $100 at one go.... it let me realise that 新坡还是有温情的.....

Back From China! A new Chapter of my life begins .....

Hi all! I'm back from China - 21 days away from home.
It is a very nice experience. I'm gonna missed alot of people. They are of course 。。
The villagers there are very friendly, warm and very hospitable.
The children there are very responsive, willingness to learn new things as well as very disclipine in class.
I'm gonna missed the times where I got to cook for 23 people.....
I'm gonna missed the times where we have to squezee into our sleeping bags.....
I will also missed the times where we had under the stars and beside the stoves talk.... (当事人应该懂) ;-)
I will also missed the times when we dread going to the toilets in the middle of the nights... and i will usually endure till the next day... haha...
I'll missed the times where we ate our meals using mess tins.... how often will we use mess tins for 16days?? hardly i guess....

I will miss the time where we had our first meat dish!!! and it is during my bday!!! must really thank Ms Low and Kee Leng.... and the nice creamy bday cake!!
There's alot that I'll missed.... the natural air-con.... the toilet w/o doors.... the drinks that will remain cold 24/7....

Let the sweet memories be left in my heart and photos that i've taken....
unhappy moments to be left in china for good....
A new chapter of my life has began when I first step back onto Singapore's Land.....

Hope that the things that we have experience and people that we've met can change our life for the better......
