God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way. And ME to share all the pain, laughter, tears, sorrow, happiness, sun and rain with you! Let us endure all the 暴风雨 and 彩虹 together!

How old is your daughter now?

Today had a short chat with an ex-client (boy)'s mum. Her daughter (client's sister) has grown so much since the last time I saw her.

While chatting, she asked me,

"How old is your daughter now?"

Laugh. I was amused by it and told her I'm not married yet. She was surprised and told me that she thought someone told her I have a daughter.

Do I looked like I have one?

Makes my day

Yesterday, I got to join the morning crowd to squeeze in train. The train ride that day was horrible. It stopped in the between stations every 2-3 stations. You can almost hear people's footsteps when they tried to balance themselves while fighting inertia. The unlucky me got trampled on my left foot by a middle-aged Caucasian when she tried to balance herself. As a normal reaction to sudden pain, I screamed a little... OUCH. I think she was wearing heels or wedges. While at Aljunied station, I felt there was something sticky on my fitflop. To my dismay, my middle toe of my left foot was bleeding. The train was also too crowded for me to wipe away the blood. And I was only able to do so when I got myself a seat at Tanjong Pagar when most of the white collar people alighted.

Thank God my intervention at Jurong went well and makes my day better. It's nice when the kid enjoys my session and refuse to let me leave the place and said I could stay and sleep in school. He will sleep in school too. Laugh. The most important thing to note is that, he is a boy with behaviour issues. Being just a 5 year old boy, he can flip table in class but with me, he can be such a sweet little boy.

No friends

I had a conversation with a 5 year old boy today. He said he has no friends and no one wants to be his friends. I see that this impacted him alot especially on his self-esteem. At the same time, his maturity is so much more than his peers. It is really too young for him to be able articulate that but he talks like a primary 2 and 3 child. But in all that conversation, I somehow felt that he is actually a very caring and affectionate boy.

Anyway, this 5 year old boy led me kept thinking and reminded me once again, real and true friends don't come easy.

This may thus sound cliche, but I am very appreciative of you guys in my life:

  •  Alvin
  • aZ
  •  hC
  • sZ
  • wC
  • zJ
  • Murni
  • Hui Hui
  • Weiting
  • Juat
  • Sunita
Thanks for all the joy and happiness you have given me.  With additional bits and pieces (some more than others) of arguments, teasing and unhappiness, but I guess these are trying to make our friendships stronger.

Let's try our best to maintain our friendships and nurture it with all our TLC and bring it to greater heights!

Thanks and good night.

P.S: It was a tiring day to travel from tampines to jurong to tampines to ang mo kio and back to tampines.

Direct Intervention

Amidst all the dramas, I seriously enjoy direct interventions with the kids.

These are the little things that kids do that melt my heart:

When being told that I wouldn't be seeing Child A till the week after, he was disappointed and said,

"Huh, why?"

In another kindergarten, after I pinned 2 awards (that I hand-made) onto a boy's shirt, he told his mum in mandarin,

"Mummy, don't wash this okay?"

And while pinning the award onto his shirt, other than worrying that he would get poke by the pin, he asked me to be careful of my fingers.

At the end of the day, I am glad that all, if not most, of my kids enjoyed my sessions. I guess it's all that matters to me.

Sometimes children are the most truthful and real people.
