God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way. And ME to share all the pain, laughter, tears, sorrow, happiness, sun and rain with you! Let us endure all the 暴风雨 and 彩虹 together!

We had a cooking session today and all were very excited!

Didn't know that so many ppl in my class can cook!!! We had fun tasting the "extra" food.... it was just so interesting and fun.... maybe we should draw up a duty rooster and takes turn to cook lunch for the class.... in this way, we can save lotsa money!!!!

Even today, the food that my group cooks is like $3.70 only.... which includes a main dish (pasta) with mushroom vegetables, drink and dessert (orange agar agar)

hehe.... was very happy la.... 'cos everyone was so impressed with my Agar Agar .... lolz... will upload when ZX has uploaded to her comp...

The class also like my pasta la... =) THL also said that it was tasty..... keke....

Those were the days

Saw Mr Seong at ubin on sat.... He still remembers my name!!!! LOLz... and was asking me where I'm studying now... lolz....

Then had a quite a long chat with him when he came over to the tunnel.... =)

We talked about how fast time passed..... those times during J02 where he pumped CITs.... and the intentions to send them home.... and always say that it was our faults... lolz... the times when he complained that he has no time to train his 2.4km because of the CI Instructors....

Time has indeed passed by so fast......

Maybe one day, we should really catch up with one another....

In another news, the TEAM trying to get an English name for me!!!!
They came out with the wierdest name one will think of for an English name - Crysantheman, !daisy, !shit, etc.....

Well, Daddy even put "My test-tube baby Girl-Girl has been baptised as !Daisy... lolz"

HAha..... and I went to find out what Daisy means -
Your first name of Daisy has made you a hard worker with a meticulous sense of detail.
You have a great deal of patience and independence, and you can be relied upon to complete your undertakings.
You could be inventive along scientific or practical lines.
You are stable, trustworthy, homeloving, and logical in practical matters, but rather unresponsive to suggestions from others.
You resist change.
Although the name Daisy creates the urge to be creative and original, we emphasize that it limits your versatility and scope, tuning you to technical details.
This name, when combined with the last name, can frustrate happiness, contentment, and success, as well as cause health weaknesses and accidents to the head, and the elimination system.

BUT it sounds so flowery.... LOL

Actually, I have a prefered English name la... it is Eileen.....

The name of Eileen creates a restless, creative nature that takes you into many ventures, but does not allow you to see things through to a satisfactory completion.
Yours is a versatile, musical, artistic, but independent nature and you must have the freedom to express your creative ideas and abilities to be happy.
An urge for independence causes dissatisfaction and frustration in close relationships and you find the "ties that bind" restricting.
The qualities of this name would find a more constructive outlet in work that involves high-pressure selling or promotional activities, possibly in community affairs, for it contains a positive, driving power.
Although the name Eileen creates the urge to be reliable and responsible, we emphasize that it causes a restless intensity that defies relaxation.
This name, when combined with the last name, can frustrate happiness, contentment, and success, as well as cause health weaknesses in the solar plexus, and through worry and mental tension.

Friday the 13th, Unlucky but not that bad after all...

Slept at 4.30am and wake up at 6.30am..... lack of sleep....

CSM's lesson at 08 30hrs..... all of us were dead..... brain dead....

Went to print my CRD's stuff on OHP and got myself a bao and coffee..... cos if not, I will be hungry... lesson ends at 3pm, w/o break....

CRD..... it was horrible.... at least for me... HB say he did not understand what problem my client has..... argh.... DEAD.....

But, there are lotsa learning points la... hopefully.... I won't and will not make the same mistakes again.....

-----------------------------------------------------------

In other news, I was in 72 when I SMSed daddy..... He called me and I was somewhere in hougang and so was he....

He picked me up and we had lunch near my place.... the lunch wasn't planned la...

But really appreciate it la.... at least thou my day wasn't that good.... it all ended well... at least till this point of time.....

If you were given a choice to "Do well in study and play minimum." and "Pass fairly and play moderate." Which one will you choose?

For me, I think I had already made my choice since JC times..... and the choice still remains....

Excursions... and more to come...

It is already 3.38am. I am still blogging…. lesson is on at 08 30hrs later….  But anyway, just want to update on today’s excursion…..

Well, we went to Health Promotion Board (HPB) in the late morning… played around…. measured my BP… luckily still healthy…… but I put on weight!!!! Shucks…. Need to exercise liao… but it has been raining since the school started….

Maybe can go gym? Hehe…. Waiting for daddy’s gym to be up… =P

Then went to SPD…. It was 4 storey high…. It was “wah” as compared to HWA…

Haiz…. If I have known that the lessons for Wed and Thu is little and with so many excursions…. I would have agreed to go for rope course….. and there are so many rope courses coming up at coasta sand and I can’t go!! Shucks…. Opportunities are there…. But they are just not meant to be mine….

Presentation later at 12-2pm…… not very prepared…. Just completed my stuff…. Maybe going to catch a nap before waking up at 6.30….  = )

Nite…..

Finally, we have an OT Day! A day to call our own....
A profession that has come thus far....

Late Early in the day..... reflection time!!!

Does being an OT means working in a hospital or community? Yes/No

Is OT the only profession we can do after we graduate? Yes/No

Can we venture out into other professions using the skills that we have acquired as an OT student? Yes/ No

Will my dream ever come true? Yes/ No
I think I already know what I want to do after July 2007. Just waiting for the right time, right opportunity. =)

Who am I ?

If you know me well enough, I am not one who will express my emotions, thoughts and feelings verbally....

I am one, who show it through words in writing, gifts in making....

I am not one who will tell you in the face that "thanks...." , "how much I appreciate you...." , etc...

Nevertheless, all these will lie deep in my heart.... and in my blog.... =P

Emode Personality Tests (Breed of dog at work, My Motivator, 7 Secrets of success)

Breed of dog at work

As a Border Collie, your tenacious nature shines through at work. While others let go of issues, you tend to hold on until you reach the resolution you want. That's because you're trying to pave your way to the top, and you'll do everything necessary to get there.

But you're not one of those power mongers who will be happy at the head of the company if you're there by yourself. You rely on having friends as an alternative support system in the workplace. And that's a good thing. Without friends to use as a release valve, you could just burn yourself out. Your energy is as boundless as your will is strong. When conflicts arise, you don't hesitate to let everyone within earshot know. You are not one for keeping emotions bottled up inside.

One of your biggest challenges in the workplace, is to find productive ways to use up your energy and new ideas. Since you are an extremely hard worker, you sometimes need to be told to quit for the night, take off and spend some time in your personal life. With your single-mindedness and perfectionist tendencies, you can be counted on to finish any job your boss puts to you. Your quick mind and affectionate nature keeps all your colleagues and work associates on their toes, and asking to be involved in your projects.

Your need for affiliation in the workplace
Border Collies like you are especially loyal and social. You do not like being alone and you seek companionship for most activities. Whether you're grabbing a coffee or lunch, you're likely to ask others to accompany you before you leave. You don't feel the need to be surrounded by people all the time, but you do like to have your social calendar booked, and you probably take comfort knowing your Palm Pilot is full of contacts.

Having those contacts by your side is more important for you than others. You want to feel like you belong — regardless of the environment. Your co-workers are more than just people you see at work, they're often the people you spend time talking with about work and other matters. You value that since meaningful human contact helps fulfill you and drive you through your days. Beyond the work requirements, you see your co-workers as a source of friendship and emotional support, and you take pride in being one of the people who holds the group together.

----------------------------------------------------------------

My Motivator

Xiu Ling, your Key Motivator is rooted in your need to share experiences with others. You're driven by what experts call Connection.

You are most fulfilled when you're interacting with others. You connect to the world through your connections with people. For this reason, you thrive on social attention and are apt to join groups and organizations, either formal or informal. You are fun-loving and someone people think of as caring because it's worth it to you to maintain your relationships. Your social nature drives you to seek intimacy. It is exactly this desire to meet people at a deeper level that also can make you more vulnerable than others when you are rejected or embarrassed by something. It's important for you to know that you thrive when you see the opportunity to connect.

Your score on the Connection scale indicates that you enjoy spending time around other people much more than most. You are likely to be the life of the party, an entertainer, or someone people just expect to be at any social event. As for work, you probably enjoy settings that have high interaction with the public or with numerous different kinds of people.

Your desire to be near people may be an internal drive that you were born with or it could have developed through external influences that you have experienced in your life so far. It is difficult to tell how much of your motivation is internal and how much is external, however, your life experiences will reinforce and strengthen your natural inclinations. For example, your drive for Connection could have been reinforced in your childhood if you got more attention when you were showing off, whether it was doing back flips into the pool for mom or being in the school play. Or, you may have loved to help people as a child, maybe even doing volunteer work or being part of a local community children's organization. Everyone is motivated by Connection to some extent, but the way in which this manifests itself is dependent on an individual's psychological make-up, and for you, it's a driving force.

Many people around you will be drawn to your charismatic nature. Let's face it; you are fun and easy to be around. People may tell you their secrets, ask for your advice, or just want to spend time around you and enjoy your escapades vicariously. However, your love of people may leave you vulnerable to unreasonable requests for favors. You don't want to see anyone suffer or unhappy, so you are easily spotted as softhearted. While you may love to keep others smiling, it is important for you to keep yourself happy as well. Don't be afraid to say no to people if their needs force you to over-commit yourself.

Because you so enjoy interacting with people, you may want to keep an eye on your tendency to get sidetracked. It may at times, cause you to compromise your plans for the future. For example, if you're at work talking to co-workers about non-work-related issues, you may find it difficult to gain the promotion you had been hoping for. On the other hand, if you can harness your motivation for connection and become an amazing networker — then your focused people skills may end up gaining you your promotion faster than most other people. Just know how to recognize the signs.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

7 secrets of success

Your primary strength is being: Thoughtful

You have a philanthropist's head and heart and tend to help people whenever you can. That's the way in which you find yourself rising through the ranks. You probably believe that by being in touch with other people's thoughts and feelings, you will better be able to put yourself in their shoes, and therefore, know what they're thinking. And when you can get into people's heads, you're better able to make critical business decisions. But while this is a happy byproduct of your approach, there is a genuine sincerity in your interest in other people's lives. You're not just in it for yourself.

Because you're thoughtful, you have the ability to relate well to others. In fact, you may see yourself as someone who brings people together. While it can be tiring at times, the fact that you devote so much energy to maintaining harmony in your social circles or workplace is likely of great worth to you. Because you care about people's welfare, you think that making the world a better place — even on a small scale — is a worthwhile endeavor.

Being thoughtful to others is one of those golden rules most of us learned early and wish everyone would practice. Amazingly, a small fraction of people know how to put this into practice and therefore don't have the potential you do to succeed in their careers. Fortunately, you're one of those types who took the lesson to heart. Indeed, the world can become a better place when people like you take on positions of authority. This is especially true in the business world where the human factor is sometimes pushed aside. More than most, you understand that people are at the heart of every business success. As a result, when you become successful, you're not likely to "forget the little people." On the contrary, you'll probably find ways to make it a positive experience for everyone around you, including your co-workers, friends, and family.

With your unfailing concern for others, you might find yourself burning the candle at both ends. Thoughtful people often forget to take care of themselves because they put everyone else's needs above their own. Working late to meet deadlines, taking on new clients to help your boss, skipping meals to drive your kids to baseball practice — all of these things can tap into vital energy reserves. Try to be aware of your inner resources so you'll know when they're running low. You are much more useful to others when you're personally fulfilled and not running yourself ragged.

You seem to understand that you can't succeed entirely on your own, and as a result, you tend to focus heavily on assisting others. While helping people is good, deep down you might be concerned that others will abandon you if you don't meet their needs. More than most people, you need to feel connected to those around you. As a result, you probably don't like to rock the boat in your work life. Instead, you likely strive to keep your colleagues happy by meeting or exceeding their expectations. When you find yourself working too hard to please people, try to remember that it's okay not to be perfect.

In the workplace, taking into account other people's needs when making decisions may seem counterintuitive for the power-hungry types. But you appear to recognize that there is a certain amount of interdependence in any enterprise. There's little use in damaging a relationship for short-term gains. Why alienate others when you might need them someday? Because of this attitude, your reputation likely precedes you as someone who treats others fairly. This trait can serve you well in developing valuable short and long-term business relationships.

Your secondary strength is being: Imaginative

Your ability to look at the world from fresh perspectives keeps you both in touch with what's current and able to come up with novel solutions to vexing problems. Unlike many people, you're not one to stick to tradition if something isn't working. Most of the time, you'd rather make up your own new-and-improved traditions. By creating fresh ideas from old ones, people like you can become pioneers in their chosen fields.

Being inventive is a gift. While others rely on tried and true methods, your natural tendency is to seek out innovative alternatives. This trait can make you a great leader in creative brainstorming sessions, business process improvement taskforces, and other areas where innovation is a must. People likely recognize your ability to see a situation from a new perspective and will compliment you more often than not. Being at the receiving end of this kind of adulation can be a boost to your confidence and your career.

One thing to keep in mind as you conceive new possibilities is that old is not always bad and new is not always good. There's a reason some things are called "classics." Certain ideas or products will always be effective and resonate deeply for people. Rather than put too much pressure on yourself to re-invent the wheel, try to focus your efforts where they're most needed. This can be easier said than done for innovators like you. It may sometimes be a challenge to practice the motto: If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

In a world that rewards conformity most of the time, imaginative types can sometimes find it hard to fit in. It can be difficult to feel validated at work or at home when changing familiar routines isn't always rewarded. This being the case, you may wonder where your need to alter the status quo comes from.

Part of your creative intensity may stem from a fear of getting stuck in a rut. You might feel that you don't want to be tied down to a system or process that may eventually suffocate you. Dreading stagnation may also mean that you're frightened of settling for second best. Hopefully these apprehensions don't extend to a fear of committing to other people. Another possibility is that you're worried your creativity will vanish if you're not consistently using it. This belief can cause you to become bored easily and may make you abandon projects before they're completed. After all, who wants to get bogged down in the details of executing an idea when there are so many more great ideas to be hatched? But regardless of what has made you so innovative, ultimately, people put an unbelievable premium on it.

Your imagination is one of the things people probably find special about you, particularly in the business world's competitive marketplace. There, innovation can be the difference between success and failure. You're able to tap into an aspect of yourself that most people never fully discover. Because of this strength, you might find that you are a highly sought-after candidate in the employment pool or if you're in a job, often tapped to tackle complex projects.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This song is dedicated to Daddy and the TEAM (esp. to M and T, as this song is the song of D02....)

Learn to Fly - A1

When you feel the dream is over
Feel the world is on your shoulders
And you lost the strength to carry on
Even though the walls may crumble
And you find you always stumble through
Remember never to surrender to the dark
Cuz if you turn another page
You will see that' not the way
The story has to end

And if you need to find a way back
Feel you're on the wrong track
Give it time, you'll learn to fly
Tomorrow is a new day
And you will find your own way
You'll be stronger with each day that you cry
Then you'll learn to fly

In your head, so many questions
The truth is your possession
The answer lies within your heart (within your heart)
You will see the doors are open
If you only dare to hope
And you will find a way to fight
The fears that kept you down
Cuz if you turn another page
You will see that's not the way
The story has to end

And if you need to find a way back
Feel you're on the wrong track
Give it time, you'll learn to fly
Tomorrow is a new day
And you will find your own way
You'll be stronger with each day that you cry
Then you'll learn to fly

Looking at your situation
There's so much that you can do
Now's the time to make your stand
This is just an observation
In the end it's up to you
The future's in your hands

And if you need to find a way back
Feel you're on the wrong track
Give it time, you'll learn to fly
Tomorrow is a new day
And you will find your own way
You'll be stronger with each day that you cry
Then you'll learn to fly

Give it time
Then you'll learn to fly

Election coming soon...

Election is coming soon.... looks like it will be my first voting ever since I've turned 21 last month!!! LOLz....

But then again..... there will only be election if there are more than 1 candidate contesting for the same constituency .....

Shall see if I can vote or not... hehe...

1st day of school

School is starting in < 8 hrs time and I am still here... yes.... preparing to sleep.... but thought of writing something here before I go to bed....

A causal remark by my sup on the last day of attachment before I left:

" Next time when you see me on the street, do not catch me if I do something wrong. 'Cos you are Police mah."

So, I interpret it as he thinks that I will not be an OT......

Well, at this moment, I am really in a confused stage..... as to what I really want to be.....
An OT? A Policewoman? Or an Outdoor Personnel with OT knowledge?

I guessed I have to sort out my thoughts soon.... if not, it will definately affect my next sem's work.....

Time to sleep.... good nite palz...

Daily Reflections for Highly Effective People (1 January - 7 January)

I just bought a book - Daily Reflections for Highly Effective People ( reference from the book - Living the 7 habits of highly effective people) by Stephen R. Covey.

This are the Reflections for 1 January - 7 January :

1 January

"If we want to change a situation, we first have to change ourselves. And to
change ourselves effectively, we first have to change our perceptions."

2 January

"We must look at the lens through which we see the world, as well as at the world we see, and understands that the lens itself shapes how we interpret the world."

3 January
"The Character Ethic, which I believe to be the foundation of success, teaches that there are basic principles of effective living, and that people can only experience true success and enduring happiness as they learn and integrate these principles into their basic characters."

4 January

"The Personality Ethic tells me there must be something out there -
soem new planner or seminar that will help me handle pressures in a more effective way.

But is there a chance that efficiency is not the only answer?
Is getting more things done in less time going to make a difference - or it will
just increase the pace at which i react to the people and circumstances that
seem to control my life?

Could there be something I need to see in a deeper, more fundamental
way - some paradigm within myself that affects the way I see my time, my life,
and my own nature?"

5 January

"If I try to use human influence strategies and tactics of how to get other people to do what I want, to work better, to be more motivated, to like me and each other - while my character is fundamentally flawed, marked by duplicity and insincerity - thrn, in the long run, I cannot be successful. My duplicity will breed distrust, and everything I do - even using so-called good human relations techniques - will be preceived as manipulative."

6 January
"To focus on technique is like crammingyour way through school. You sometimes get by, perhaps even get good grades, but if you don't pay the price day in and day out, you never achieve true mastery of the subjects you study or develop an educated mind."

7 January

"We simply assume that the way we see things is the way they really are or the way they should be. And our attitudes and behaviours grow out of those assumptions."

Resolutions for the year 2006

Since today is the 1st day of the year, I thought it will be good for me to think about what resolutions I have for the year and AIM towards it....
(in no particular order of importance)

  • To do well in my studies and future CEs
  • To have more opportunity to work with QD (daddy has already ask me for my monthly schedules)
  • To participate in more outdoor activities ( life has been "studious" with nothing but projects, library and assignments in 2005)
  • Hopefully, to learn my sign language
  • To have my room packed and remain clean for the rest of the year
  • To go overseas for trekking or holidays
  • To have savings ( I always do not have savings for raining days.... )
  • Have regular gatherings with palz (JC classmates, OPEians, TEAM, AREA CIs.... )
  • To go for my level 2 and 3 sports climbing and level 3 abseiling
  • To be able to swim and cycle on the road.....
  • More to be added in .....

Reflections of 2005

A friendster testimonial from my college dragon boat team member, K :

Looking back at 2005, I pondered over what I missed the most.. But never got the chance to do in 05..

Theres what I came up with.. I miss bailing water outta the boat with the pathetic scoop.
I miss rowing whether its rain or shine.
I miss sitting at the SDBA with the other gals to boy-watch.
I miss those uneven tan-lines I got. (well actually.. not really.. Haha..)
I miss the numerous times I heard steadyby, paddles up and go.
I miss the feeling of victory and letting the other teams eat our backwash.
(alrighty, so we DID eat others backwash too at times.. haha..)
I miss dangling my feet in the water at the side of the boat.
I miss having the Police Coast Guards honking at us.
I miss us scrambling to put on our lifejackets when the PCGs go past us.
I miss beaching up at the 500m mark to eat watermelons.
I miss hanging out with you all before/during/after trainings.
I miss being a dragonboater..
Most of all.. I miss all of you..
Have a great year ahead!

My reflection: I also missed being a dragonboater. I missed challenging myself to my limits.... I also missed the feeling of winning..... I missed the times where we rolled with tyres in the sea and sped of when the tyres were up. Though I wasn't close to the whole team, I missed the team. I missed how we trained for the competitions and win glory back to the college....

In the year 2005, I've meet very interesting people, esp the TEAM and Daddy. Every moment with them are filled with joy and laughters. It is so amazing that we were so close. I'm looking forward for more of such moments. =)

The tour to Taiwan with my 7 other classmates was a very enjoyable trip. It was the time when I really got to know alot more of Yiwei, Shu Hui, Weiting, ZhenRu, Meixuan, Xiu Ping and my buddy Huihui. I cannot really recalled when we started to be closer..... but this trip really make us closer to each other.
Things that I missed:
  • The times when we went to night market almost every night.
  • The times when we have to draw lots to bathe and most of the time I was always the last
  • Having to squezze 4-5 people in a room, sleeping on the floor....
  • Taking photos at every location that we stopped
  • Sitting in the bus and hear everyone singing
  • Having "O bin" as our topic everytime....
  • Trying our luck to go to 六福村 but to no avail for at least 3 times
  • Displaying all our shopping and bargaining skills
  • The time spent shopping in Taiwan is more than 21 years I spent shopping in Singapore.
  • Climbing and overcoming mountains after mountains.....
  • Sharing a can of 7-up in the plane.

The rest shall remain in my memories for years to come ... ...

Being a part of NDP has always been my wish list every year. This year, I am fortunate to be able to fulfill this wish of mine with the help of NYP CSC and SADeaf. Thanks to both. It also allows me to learn something that I always wanted to know more about - Sign language. Because of this, it is an advantage when I was at my attachment. I was able to communicate with a member of the place using sign language thou my vocab was so limited. So I started to spell out the word.... but it has been an interesting experience for me to learn another langauge and I see the importance of using Sign Language to communicate....

Thanks for both the instructors for ya guidance..... Maybe, hope to see you guys soon ....

-------------------------------------------------------------------

After my attachment, I feel that there are lots more room for improvment, esp in terms of my foundation. Got more to catch up while more knowledge will be taught.... hopefully things turn out well for me....

An evaluation from Daddy, about 1 week ago thr msn:

You are very dedicated and you tend to 'punish' yourself if things don't work out the way you want it to. Commitment is one thing, and you need to balance it well .

Having a stubborn streak can impair your thought process as it stops you from receiving and asking for help... Good to have a stubborn streak and good to be flexible too... Like I use to say, Be rigid but flexible.

You love your fellow mates and that's very comforting for ppl around you...

You're a perfectionist and you need stubborness to be that. Just like Daddy!

My Reflection: "Punishment" is one of the way for me to improve I guess.... Just like I reward myself for doing well..... As for committment.... I will try to work on that... since so many ppl has been talking about committment....
I agree I AM stubborn.... will see how I can be MORE flexible.... maybe I will do more YOGA?? lolz.... Yesh.... I LOVE my fellow mates..... and well... it is because I feel comfortable with you guys!!! I think I am a person who will go all out (within my limits of course) to help my friends, to be with them, etc once I feel that they are friends worth making..... =p

As for perfectionist..... I AM.... cos I believe to do my best in all I can..... =)

Thanks daddy for the comments.... shall improve on my weaknesses and turn them into strengths!
