Jogging and Cycling

Today, I went jogging with Sabrina....
Not too bad... but then.. think need to train up on my fitness again....
missed those times where we had to jog 2.4 km before our SPE (tennis, etc)
I did jog okay.... thou many ppl (other classes) just bluff the teacher bu jogging 2 rounds(0.8km) onli.... but well... it did help my 2.4km run during my NAFA Test okay... got 14+ mins... so that's a 5 pts.... haha....

After that, felt like cycling.... so we went with our feeling... and we went cycling!!!
Well.... as I am a novice cyclist.... and never cycle on road before, I never risk my life on road.....
so I push the bike to cross to the park opposite her house....

The bike was alittle erm.... "loosen"... but hey..... at least I can cycle now... lolz...
Then we talked abt JC times.... aBt Life... Abt aNything Under the sUn... Literally and physically.... cos it was almost 12 noon liao... lolz....

mmm.... maybe that will be the next few activities that I wanna take up... but then... must earn $$ 1st la...

So the activities that I plan to take up in my next few years are:

  • Diving
  • Bagpacking
  • Mountaineering
  • Powerboat
  • Driving
  • Continue my Sports Climbing and Abselling
  • Continue my kayaking

All the above are not in order of preference. =P

N.E.X.T Challenge

I was helping out at the N.E.X.T Challenge (NC) organized by th NorthEast YECs.

Supposed to meet my committe at 7.45am for briefing..... but er... well... I overslept. Woke up at 7.50am instead.... set my alarm the night before for it to ring at 6.45am.... but then... haha... you noe la...
luckily not very late la... hehe...

After the briefing, Johnny drove us to Springfield Secondary, the place were Jon and I stationed as Station Masters for the NC. When we reached there, 2 instrs were already there, setting up the ropes for the sports climbing (but known as rock climbing to mostly). One of them is Jon's Friend,Stephen... he was from NCC... same as Jon, a CLT oso....

Then nth much... then came the belayer.... she is Pei Geok....
We had some conversations.... dun play play... she's from HCJC one... going to NUS Science....
Guess what?? I finally found a 2-star kayaker who dunno how to swim, just like me!!! lolz.... ;p

Ya... saw some Ex-TPJCians taking part in the NC.... one of them is the vice-president of tpjc seasports(2002/03) which i belonged to when I was in TPJC... haha...

Mmmm... then our lunch came real late... ard 2pm-2.30pm...
we had nasi ayam or issit brani?? dunno la.. haha... but Pei Geok had MAC!! waOh.... see the difference? haha....

Then came the time to pack up.... of course before we packed up... how can Jon and me missed the chance to climb!!! haha... and we did... lolz...
well.... i tried the NC rules.... but in the end... decided to give up... haha...
then I went on climbing my own route... that is the right side... managed to climb all the way to the top where the anchor point was set up...
wah... it has been donkey years since I last climbed.... was it 2 years?? WahahA.....

Then after that, helped Pei Geok in taking down of the rope and carabiners(dunno the actual spelling)....
I was at the ground.... Pei Geok was the one climbing... ;-)
Since she has never done lead climbing before, I assited her at the bottom with instructions... wah seh... long time nv do lead climbing... was like... keeping my finger crossed... haha..
Well... the bottom line is.... there must always be an anchor point....
Then we packed up......

Was waiting for Stephen to pick us(or was it onli pei geok? haha...) but then.... just when he was approching.... he hit the curb.... and think there are sth wrong with his wheels..... and.... think he didn't fasten his seat beat or did he? or was it he was too tired... and think he hit his head.... ouch... think he got abit confused for a while.... did he?? dunno... din talk to him... someone ask me not to broadcast... ;-) pretend I nv say anything....

so... pei geok and I went to TM by bus.... while stephen went to park his car at the carpark, as it was infront of the bus stop.
When i reached, my committee ppl was not there....
so I called them.... and they were at BK.... went to look for them... shortly after.... went back to the tentage area.... saw yurong...faizal... jinwei...jingjing... wilson....

Then after that.... went hm lor... then take a nap... and here I am... writing this entry... lolz...
*anyway.... din know that stephen is from tampines west YEC..... adventure secretary oso.... haha.... and guess what?? he stayed like 1 road away.... and i din see him b4 in my 20 years.... coming to 21
and... he kinda looked like jimmy when i saw him... lolz....*

Learn sign language.....

Today, went to NYP to learn sign langauge. There were volunteers from the Singapore Association for the Deaf.

We were given a talk on the culture of the Deaf in Singapore and taught how to sign the Singapore Pledge. We were taught the song that we are going to sing during the National Day. It was called Uniquely you. It is a very nice and meaningful song.

I guess this has increase my interest in taking up sign language course.... kl and theresa.. still interested?? hehe...

I'm looking forward for the next training..... shall go and brush up on my signing skills for the national pledge. ;-)

Anyway, I am impressed, inspired and motivated by one of the instructors. This instructor is a 3 yr Law student (seen from the website he gave us).... and he actually have time to volunteer himself in such a BIG event.... *Slaute*

I believe that the society needs more such people.... and me? Do I still have the nerve to say I cannot commit to volunteer myself in NPCC?

I don't know.... at least not at the moment....

*BTW, the instructor(anyway his name is adrain) looks familar..... wonder did he took part in the charity adventure last year.... hehe... *

Love is strange... irony.... or is it the people?

There are 3 groups of people:

The 1st group of people are those who keep on changing their partners because they keep on looking for the better half.

The 2nd group of people are those who wait for the better half to appear.

and the 3rd?
The 3rd group of people of course are those who either stick to their partners or those who give up on relationships.

Below is the possible outcome of the 3 grps of people....
ready??

*
*
*
*
*
**
*
*
*
**
*
*
*
*
**

The 1st group of people.......

Have you all ever wonder that no matter how many partners you find, there will always be someone better.... in that case... are you going to keep changing even if you are 60 years old??
Love is not finding your perfect one... no one is perfect in thw world....
Everybody makes mistakes... that's why pencil has an eraser.
Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder..... Love comes when an inperfect person becomes perfect..... when stregths and love cover all the weaknesses.....
in that case... is there still a more perfect person??

As for the 2nd group of people.... read this analogy....

When the bus come, you look at it and you said to yourself, "eeee... so full...cannot sit down one". So you said to yourself, "I'll wait for the next one." so you let the bus go and waited for the second bus.

Then the second bus came, you looked at it and you said, "eeee...this bus so old...surely very uncomfortable one." So you let the bus go and decided to wait for the next bus.

After a while, another bus came. It's not crowded and not old but you said, "eeee... no air-con one...and the weather is so warm, better wait for the next one." So again you let the bus go and decided to wait for the next bus.

Then the sky started to get dark as it is getting late.

You panicked and jump on to the next on coming bus. It is not until much later that you found out that you had boarded on to the wrong bus! So you wasted your time and money waiting for what you want!

Even if an aircon bus came, can you ensure that the aircon bus won't break down or will the aircon be too cold for you?

But wait...I am sure all of you have this experienced before. You saw a bus is coming (the bus you want of course) you flagged it and the driver acted blur by pretending not seeing you and zoomed pass you!
The bottom line of being loved is like waiting for a bus and whether you want to get on the bus and give the bus a chance depends totally on you and walking alone is just like being out of love.

And if you con't to wait for the perfect one... this may happens.....

And for the 3rd grp.....

either they live happily after or.... they stay single.....
Or well.... Find someone of the same gender......

That's life..... but some advises for all... regardless which group you falls into...

If you love someone set him/her free. If he/she comes back to you, you know they're yours. If they don't then it was never meant to be.

Remember to always say what you mean. If you love someone, tell. Don't be afraid to express yourself. Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you. Because when you decide that it is the right time, it might be too late.

Seize the day. Never have regrets.

And most importantly, stay close to your friends and family, for they have helped make you the person that you are today.

Pass this along to your friends. It could make a difference.

The difference between doing all that you can or having regrets which may stay with you forever.

Friendship is never an accident. It is always the result of high intentions, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution. It represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

And remember.... Keep Smiling....coz... "Of All Things You Wear, Your Smile Is As love returns to me, As I return to you, As love returns to us.

Hope this is really wondeful and make a lot of sense.
Have a nice day...

NCOs

Forget to add on to previous entry.....
thou the NCOs are not up to standard at the moment.....
but I believe that with their learning attitude, they will bring the standards to greater heights...
but at the moment, you guys still need to brush up on your soft skills and hard skills...
if you all need help, pls feel free to approach me....
(if you all read my blog la... lolz)

Back fROm NCO cAmp...

I just came back from the NCO camp. Well, I was very disappointed at the standards of the NCOs-to-be as it reflected the standards of the unit. I believe many instructors did not feel the mood of the NCO camp at all.

As for the NCOs to be, they only became more intiative and had more sense of urgency on the 3rd day. Hope that it is not because they are going back but because they are NCOs!

Not going to talk much about other stuff that happens... ...

What type of Singaporean Blogger am I??

Congratulations Xiu Ling, you are...

Scarlett Ting of joewei.blogspot.com

You are independent, smart and beautiful. Its too bad you don't see that yourself because life's little difficulties brought down a lot of your self confidence. As a result, you talk cryptic and you don't trust people easily. You care a lot for your friends and your loved ones, sometimes even more than you care for yourself, although they don't always seem to appreciate it. Don't let that affect you. As the saying goes, you don't miss the water till the well runs dry. So hang in there, you're a star in the making.

Which Singaporean Blogger Are You?

My horoscope for the day.....

Hmm -- maybe, just maybe, it's time to get some things out on the table? There seems to be some intense stuff going on, yet neither of you is actually acknowledging it. This is especially true if you've been teaming up on any projects or plans; or maybe you've been waiting for the right time to share a secret. The good news is that, despite whatever agendas you're carefully keeping cloaked, the two of you are actually very receptive to each other now. No time like the present, right?

More Personality TesTs....

What's my Workout Style?

Onward and upward! A fresh air aficionado like you wouldn't want to be cooped up in a sweaty weight room when you could be working up a sweat al fresco. With the wind at your back and the sun on your face, an outdoorsy person like you probably prefers your workouts without all the flash and dash, get-buff-fast gimmicks that are out there. It's all about reaching new heights for you. Whether you're scaling new summits, blazing new trails, or exploring uncharted territory, an enthusiastic adventurer like you should head into the open air to get your pulse pounding. So, get going. First one to the top wins!

Are You Good to Your Body?

Whoa, Nelly. Chill out. Relax, don't do it. No matter how you say it, it sounds like taking a break could do your body good. While we applaud your drive and initiative, taking it easy could be just what the doctor ordered. Getting away from it all, eating healthy, staying hydrated, and treating your body right by getting antioxidants are part of that prescription.A hard-working and motivated person like you knows what you want and isn't afraid to go after it. You're sure to go far in life, just don't forget to stop and smell the roses every once in a while. You'll be glad you did!
Stressing less is just one way to help. For an easy and simple way to do something good for yourself next time you're thirsty, grab a great tasting, refreshing bottle of Lipton Iced Tea with antioxidants.

1st day of camp..... did orienteering.... thou i did orienteering so many times b4... this time was little different.... why?? the compass was so much different!!! there is no scale.... theN map is so hard to read... not very clear.... and I didn't know the place well... guess I noe ubin more than pasir ris... lolz....

2nd day did rafting.... did i hear again?? ya... i did rafting for area 12 atc.... now for this sec 3 camp.... didn't managed to bring the raft out for the morning grps.... cos it was super low tide...
but managed to bring 2 out of 4 rafts to the sea...
was glad to see that my afternoon grp was better.... in term of teamwork... communication... attitude.... they are willing to learn and takes in suggestions... unlike the grp that i took in the morning....

the thing that is more memorable was the debrief.... reason being.. that was the last time that i really talked to them and tell them how i feel about them etc....
some cried.... some eyes were teary.... thou it was dark.... i can see.....
my main objective is not to make them cry.... thou it may be one of my objectives.... reason being when they cry... it shows that they were listening to you... they were reflecting etc....
but the main objective is to inspire them.... to let them think about issues that they want to run away from.... or things that they nv thought off....
hopefully after that night... they can grow up.... forget each other faults... be good to one another....

so much so abt campers and programs... what abt instructors.... mmm... mainly were ntu students....
din really tok to them... cos there wasn't much free time.... activities-lunch-activities-dinner-taking grp- debrief - slp.... where got time??
haha.... din really tok to them too.. cos dun really noe them... as i onli become talkative when i noe the ppl better....
yup... hopefully, get to noe them better if we were to work together in camps again....
Might have already known them if i went to ntu !! haha...
anyway... they are a bunch of fun-loving ppl with their :

"DON'T TOUCH THE BABY!"

Back from 2 Camps

Hi all! I'm back again!!

went to 2 camps in a roll... but not as bad as rayyan and jeremy.....
they went to 3 camps... and currently in their 4th camp!!
went to help out in area 12 atc... at first was assigned grp instr... then changed to some I-Games activities.. cos the officers never ask the cadets' parents to sign the indemity forms... so ATF was cancelled.... I-games was conducted instead.... but luckily desmond told them that they do not have enough rafting instr... so i go over to rafting lor....

This camp suppose to be area 12 atc... but in the end... it seems like area 9 instr running the camp....

I was alittle unhappy about the TO asking the cadets to bring the bedsheets and blankets from the bunks to the admin office..... I mean, the cadets didn't use the place.... they shouldn't be the ones doing it for you...
Next is the cleaning of the canteen.... the cadets didn't use the canteen.... they shouldn't be cleaning up for us too....
just imagine.... how is it like to clean the butt of someone else after they had shitted!!!
Cadets are human beings... they should not be treated like "slaves"......
